Default Printer for photos and card stock

I'm looking to replace an older HP Photosmart printer. I need something that will print good quality photos as well as print on card stock. Any suggestions?

I am in this exact same position! I too have an older HP Photosmart printer. I have been happy with it, but it is just getting too old and having lots of jams, etc. I was thinking of getting another HP, but am interested to see what others have and how they like it.

Red face HP info

Joan,

After I posted that query, I went to the HP website and looked for solutions to paper jams and "out of paper" messages. (The two main problems I am having with my older Photosmart 7660 - which I have loved!) I discovered a few things I think might help. I will try those and then decide if I truly need another printer. You might try the same things. (One is to use only the same type paper when you load the paper. I was mixing card stock with regular paper! Also use between 10 and 25 sheets of whatever paper you are using.) Another solution is to clean the paper rollers behind the paper jam door. Hmmm. I'll let you know if I have any success.

Jo

My old HP jammed all the time with card stock, so when I purchased a new one I specifically looked for a back loading tray for cardstock. I have a Canon Pixma with the open tray in the back that allows the paper to just flow in (it doesn't have to bend around a roller) and I love it. The photo quality is really good too. I also love that you can replace individual color cartridges as the run out.

I just purchased a HP PhotoSmart 7520 wireless all-in-one printer and after a horrible time getting my laptop to recognize the printer, it's working like a dream now!

It prints beautiful pics, and I tried plain copy paper, cardstock, and photo paper. It also has a paper feed, and although I won't use it very often, when I do, it works great, too!

This printer also has a separate tray just for photo paper so I don't have to load it when I want to actually print photos.

My husband has another photosmart that is about a year old and he really likes his, too.

This is the first HP printer I've owned so I hope it keeps working for a while!
