Has anyone noticed this problem? When I load the tape and start working, the tape seems to want to wander off to the left side of the roller. It is so close to the edge that it looks like it's going to slide right off. Even when I thread the tape through and start it out closer to the inside of the roller, it still makes its way to the very edge. Am I doing something wrong??

Mine stays closer to one edge than the other but I thought that is the way it is supposed to be. It hasn't been a problem. I did try to guide it more towards the middle but it doesn't like the middle. I haven't had any problems with it being on the edge. So long as the tape stays tightly on the spool it won't come off and you just have to adjust where you lay your line of tape.
I think it is suppose to be on the edge. The red one too! However the Blue one or the ATG50 stays on the inside which can be very frustrating if you are used to it being on the edge! LOL!!! I have all three! Well, actually I bought the blue ATG50 for my daughter. I have a video comparing the three: New Pink ATG Comparison with ATG 714 & 50
Thanks ladies! I guess mine is normal after all. I resisted buying one for a long time, but now that I have it, I don't know what I did before, other than re-gluing card fronts and other embellishments.....LOL

I love mine. The only thing I don't like is that the tape sticks too good. When you place something it is placed for good. There's no room for error without wrecking your paper. I haven't tried the dental floss trick I read about on here but will give that a shot at some point.

You're one up on me: I hadn't even HEARD of the dental floss trick! So far I haven't had placement regret, but I'll keep the floss handy now....just in case.

That is soooo true!! Once its down its down! I will have to try that dental floss trick. Design Paper is the worse! I can sometimes with cardstock if I catch it quickly enough fix it without too much harm or at least the damage is on the underneath and still usable, but thinner paper, NEVER! Great tip!
watch how you are rolling the tape, sometimes if you are always doing it at an angle, the tape will roll that way, also make sure your full spool is set all the way down on the spindle so that the little black tab is seated inside a slot on the tape roll....clear as mud?
and it should always be on the edge of the roller, just not coming off.
Best money I ever spent!
Yep. I've had mine for about 3 years now, I think. My friend finally broke down and bought one when she saw the pink one, and her only problem with it is how great it sticks! You can't reposition this stuff, that's for sure. BUt I love it. If only I could keep my son out of it! He finished up his science project with it, and I'm out of tape. So I bought some double sided tape in case he had another project, but now somebody has walked off with that! Must order more tape...must order more tape...maybe I'll remember, maybe I won't!
When I first got the red 714, I had the same problem. Years later it still seems that the tape surely is going to come off the left side of the roller. But it hasn't. As a matter of fact, M's has the pink atg for $19.99 tomorrow so I plan on getting another--for card making. (I always buy the gold tape for scrapbooking. If I have two, I can use the less expensive tape for cards.)
Do any of you know if you can buy repositionable tape for them? Also, what's the difference between the types of tapes--I noticed a few of you mentioned gold tape. I love my pink gun!

I had to laugh at your comment about your son taking your tape. My daughter was constantly taking my stuff, so like you, I bought a few things for her personal stash. Now hers AND mine frequently pull disappearing acts!

I do not know about repositionable. But the Gold tape is acid free for scrapbooking. I purchase my tape from framingsupplies.com. And I did go pick up a pink gun today at Michaels.

Try Un-Du. It works like a charm. I don't make cards or scrapbook without it nearby. It only works on dry adhesive/stickers, but it works really well. It has saved many a scrapbook page and card for me.

I use it on everything else, but never thought to use it that way. It doesn't leave an oily residue on your paper?

I have used the adhesive remover that SU sells and it works great to remove ATG tape and tape residue.
