Question Paper piercing tool

I do not have one, and am hoping there might be something "around the house" that I could use instead. Any suggestions? I've never seen a piercing tool in person to have any idea how sharp/thick the point is. Would a safety pin work?

I just read on a blog somewhere (if I find it, I'll post a link) that you can use a mouse pad and a tapestry needle . . .I don't have one either, I tried my mouse pad and my teensy scissors last night to poke holes for brads and it worked OK.

My friend doesn't have one and she uses a big safety pin or an earring.

I've used a large straight pin (from sewing) before and it worked well.

Thanks for the fast replies!!! I should have asked sooner

I have the Making Memories little tool set and use the hole maker & hammer to place brads, but those holes were just too big for piercing. I've been wanting to try some of the "corner piercing" I've seen everywhere on cards, but wanted to save the few $$ toward paper or stamps. Plus....it's just been way too cold to go out anywhere!! Truck would start Thursday, and work was cancled yesterday.

Before I got my tool I just used a push pin...I use plastic canvas in various sizes for a template.

You can get a paper piercer for $2 or so at your local craft store. Making Memories sells a couple nice ones.

Use a needle, stick the thread end in a cork and use that to punch your holes. I do a lot of embroidery on paper and that works great if you do not have a regular piercing tool. You can vary the size of your holes by the size of the needle you use. Good luck,

I just use a large push pin and mouse pad to do all of my piercing.

I use a really big needle I had left over probably from a needle point project. I do like the idea of a push pin, though!

You can also buy an inexpensive plastic needle point canvas (they come in all shapes) to use as your template.
