I'll try to explain, but the video on Youtube says it all: It allows you to use your existing dies and not cut all of the way through the die which means that you can create partially cut items in a surface that allows you to fold parts up three-dimensionally (i.e. the wings of a butterfly).

I really like this idea, but the uncut portion of the die seems too thick. For the butterfly used on demo, I would have preferred a narrower body with more wing to lift.

I agree with Arizona. The uncut portion is too broad so it makes the body portion look thick and to my eye, rather chunky. I think of a butterfly as being delicate.

I think the idea of the cutting pad intriguing. The thought of making a row of letter or images 'pop up' is how I would probably use the plates.

Love how Tim Holtz thinks of things to make this craft 'new' and exciting!

This plate is less than $6 (free shipping, too) so I just preordered it from Marco's Paper. I have so many dies and movers and shapers - I can't wait to experiment and see what this puppy can do

The body of the butterfly can be made slimmer by hand-cutting an extension to the depth you wish....a pain in the neck, maybe, but better than starting from scratch to do the cutting.

Good thing it is not expensive, as I think it ha limited uses for what I do. Another I'll pass on.

I saw the video and I wasn't impressed. Like an earlier poster said, the uncut area is too wide for smaller dies (like the butterfly he used in the video I watched). I won't be buying this one...
