Default New Cricut Cartridges--some cheaper?

I was looking on the Cricut website to check out the new cartridges. I noticed some of them that were just released March 28 are priced at $49.99 while others of the same date are priced at the normal $89.99.... Is there some reason for this? Do the cheaper ones have less to them, maybe? Or maybe the non-font ones are always less and I just never realized that?

The cheaper ones definantly have less on them to cut with. I know one of those $49.99 ones has 50 images on it. They mentioned something about this somewhere on their website, but I honestly cannot recall exactly where I saw it.

They're also packaged differently. I noticed them this morning at Robert's. The cheaper ones aren't in the box inside the packaging 'cause there is no box. I wonder if this is new packaging they're trying out or if they'll make the switch to it. I like the boxes!

QUOTED FROM THE PROVOCRAFT BLOG:

Cricut Solutions vs. Classic Cricut cartridges
Cricut Solutions cartridges are starting to appear in stores, and were thrilled that many of you are adding them to your Cricut collections! There have been some concerns about packaging, so we want to clarify the difference between Classic Cricut cartridges and Cricut Solutions cartridges:

Classic Cricut Cartridges
- type of cartridges youre all familiar with
- contain 100 designs and 6 creative features
- latest additions include the Pooh and Friends and Pooh Font Set cartridges, and we will continue to create more must-have Classic Cricut cartridges
- suggested retail price is $89.99 (or $99.99 for Disney cartridges)
- come packaged in a storage box that includes the cartridge, keypad overlay, and handbook

Cricut Solutions Cartridges
- new style of Cricut cartridges
- contain an average of 50 designs and 2 creative features (mostly Shadow and Blackout/Shadow Blackout)
- themed cartridges that contain Cricut designs tailored to meet specific project needs
- eight total: 6 shape cartridges (Baseball, Soccer, Wedding, Camp Out, Home Accents, and Indie Art) and 2 font cartridges (Stone Script and Street Sign).
- suggested retail price is $49.99
- come packaged in a plastic shell (blister packaging) that includes the cartridge, keypad overlay, and fold-out card

We are developing a storage system for the Cricut cartridges, including a great option for all 8 of the Cricut Solutions cartridges. Stay tuned!!"

I'm anxious to see what their storage solution is going to be. HTH!

Thanks so much! LOL, Well that explains why I couldn't figure out how to view "the rest of the images" on the cart...there aren't any!!

Well, I finally downloaded a trial copy of the design studio last night, so I think I'll play with some of those to see if I think they're worth the price to get so many less than I'm used to.
