I've been debating on trading my SU! circle and square punches b/c I've bought the nesties. Is there really any reason to keep both? The SU! square punches are pretty small and I'm not sure I'd use them. I'm currently waiting on my circles to get here so I can compare the sizes. Are there any good uses for the punches that I can't do with the nesties? Thanks!

Punches travel. I can put scrap paper and a bag in my stuff and punch out parts on my breaks. Punches punch one piece quickly without needing anything else. I have a Big Shot, and a Cricut and I will still keep my punches.
That said, if you need the space, I can understand letting go of your punches. I just feel they ae still useful to me.

I don't travel anywhere to stamp/scrap. I have them in a hanging shoe rack on my wall so they're not really in the way. There are other things I'd like so I was thinking about trading the punches for it. I don't mind using the nesties to cut my shapes..it only takes a minute. I was just wondering if I really needed to keep the punches since I really haven't used them and I can't think of anything to really use them for. Does that make sense? I really appreciate your response!
I prefer nesties over punches. They are so easy to use and a much better value in my opinion! All my punches are currently sitting in a bottom drawer, but my nesties and cuttlebug are front and center on my craft table.
You can't emboss with an SU punch, you can with nesties.

have you used your punches on a card or anything? Do you have any examples?
I love my nesties.. I always cut a couple of sizes smaller inside the shape I'm
cutting. saves paper (I have a smaller shape to use later and saves weight
when I mail the card. ) Can't do that with any of my other cutting systems.
That being said I have a ton of punches.. MS etc but no SU squares circles

If you're not using them, and would never need them, I agree, I'd trade them for things you will use. Might even be able to trade them for more Nestibilities!;-)
I have nesties and I have a lot of punches. I still used my circle and square punches a lot. Even though I have my die cut machine always set up and my nesties conveniently located, I still find the punches more convenient to use. But I do love the nesties for the larger sizes and for the scalloped edges that I don't have punches in.
I would not give up my punches, but that's me. If once you get your nesties you find you never reach for your punches anymore, than by all means, find them a new home.
I have both, and I'd never get rid of my punches. There are a bunch of stamps that are made to use with the punches, and to me it's easier to stamp the image and punch it out than to have to set up the nesties. It just saves a few steps.
I agree. They both have their uses. There are times when punches are much quicker and easier. And I find that there are some stamp sets that a particular punch (especially scallop ones) matches perfectly while none of the nesties is just right. Recently I did a project with lots of circles and some of the needed sizes just weren't in the Nestabilities and I have all the Circle sets. That reminded me that my punches were here to stay even if they don't get the lavish attention that my Nesties do.
My suggestion is to keep them for a year and if you truly never have a use for them in that year, then trade or sell them.

What a cool idea! I am definitely going to do this.
I've got some punches and most of the nesties (rectangle, circle, oval) and although I love my nesties, I'm keeping the punches. Recently I was mass producing some Halloween treats and it would have been a huge hassle to cut multiple circles with the nesties while it was relatively easy to whip out the punch and punch 20 circles. Now that doesn't happen that often, but for me it happens enough that it's worth having the punch. I probably won't buy any more punches, but I'm keeping the ones I have.
I just wanted to add the circle punches are really nice for the Justrite stamps. I had a hard time trying to cut them with my nesties. I agree with some other posters if you want to mass produce then the punches are the way to go. Its just easier and faster.
I sold my marvy punches, since I felt the nesties really took their place, but not my SU. I love my nesties, but the punches are so convenient when I want to stamp a sentiment or an image and punch it out. Many of the SU images are made to fit perfectly in their punches.
I would definitely wait until you get all of your nesties before you decide. I was actually disappointed in the circles because I thought I would have all sizes covered, but I don't. there are still sizes I want that the nesties just don't have.
I use both punches and my Nestabilities, though I must admit, the Nesties get used more, as the variety in sizes work better for me than the punches I have. I wouldn't get rid of my punches, because they are so much quicker to use!
I agree with everyone up there! I have both and use both. I love the Nestabilities for the amount of sizes beyond the small sizes you get with punches. I'm a coluzzle dummy and never liked the way you could *tell* you used the coluzzle, so Nestabilities worked well for me!
I would like to ask- for the Just Rite 1 5/8" stamper, which punches do you use to punch them out? My Mom just got a stamper set, and she does not have nestabilities like I do.

Thanks for your reply,

I use the EK Success 1 3/4" circle punch (which is the same as the SU 1 3/4" circle punch) and a 2" EK Success scallop circle punch for the mat. I just recently started collecting the Nestabilities, so I will play with those for the mats. It's so much easier to punch the stamped image with the upside down punch than it seems like it would be to position in the Nestie, so I'm sticking with my punch to cut the actual monogram.
No new suggestion, just confirming what others have said...
Love all the different sizex of nesties and the matching scalloped sizes, but I did a mass production of cards over the summer and when I was using a punch it went so much quicker than when I had to cut with the nesties. I only have a few punches, and wouldn't buy more since I would rather spend it on my nesties, but if had them already and they aren't in the way- keep em!!!!

I have nesties and love them, but I agree that sometimes it is just quicker to use a punch. Maybe in the future when I have more space in my craft area so that I can leave my cuttlebug set up all the time I might get rid of my punches.

Actually my Bug is pretty much ready to go all the time, and my nesties easily organized and accessible. I find that in mass producing the time consuming part is running the plates through and then out, then lining them up again to go through, etc, as oppposed to just squeeze, move- squeeze move, with a punch... Don't think I will get rid of my punches anytime soon since they are already paid for....

Good luck and hope Mom has fun!
I have a couple of Paper Shaper punches and they give a nice layered border. The circle is 1-7/8" and the scalloped circle is 2-5/16". These were used in examples by Justrite site and they listed the sources there. The spacing is just perfect.
As far as keeping the punches, I too struggled with this decision until I had to center an image in the middle of a circle. I couldn't do it perfectly without having the punch. With the punch I could see the image and center it within the opening for proper alignment.
