martha stewart scalloped heart punch

I have several other Martha punches and they work beautifully. I puchased this one a couple of weeks ago and I'm having problems. First of all the indexing is upside down from the inner workings! But, it also won't go through even text weight paper. Is it meant to punch or emboss?? It is called a craft punch but elsewhere on the packaging it says "creates embossed shapes for card making . . ." I'd appreciate any tips from anyone else who might have this punch.

Is this the one...?

It definitely looks like a punch, so maybe you got a defective one. I bet Michael's will exchange it for you. Good luck!

Super cute punch, by the way. I may need to make a trip to Michael's soon...

I have the same punch~ it is adorable but when I punch there is a spot on each side that is still connected to the paper. I am just snipping thoses spots because I didn't see any to exchange and I don't want to give it up.

Thanks, ladies, for your replies. Angie, I can see by the link you sent me that it definitely should be punching all of the way through. Thanks for thinking of looking for it there. I'll try exchanging it at Michaels, but even when I bought it a couple of weeks ago--it was the last one there. I did email marthastewartcrafts.com. We'll see what their response is.
