Default Leftover rubber from SU Rubber Stamps

Does anyone have any suggestions for the leftover rubber from SU rubber stamps? I hate to throw it away.

Thanks,

Joanne

I have seen people cut the rubber into small pieces and make a mosaic stamp out of it.

I actually have use the bigger pieces to make a few smaller stamps. I peeled off the rubber from the foam, punched a shape and the glued the rubber back on the foam and trimmed the foam.

I give my to hubby. He works at Fire Dept and thier doors (inside) shut hard. He takes the rubber and stick around them to close quieter. Helps those sleeping and don't scare the vistors that come by.

I did save them to use as "pop dots," but it was a hassle and it didn't stick as good as I would prefer. I had a huge baggie of it and just got rid of it.

Look at www.understandblue.blogspot.com and look at posts of the past couple of months. It won't take long, and you will find two types of large background stamps that Lydia made using the leftover rubber! Also, I have read that people use the outline of the image to help do shading around their stamping, but I think they must be using the paper backing for that.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have a vision of using the scraps to make smaller stamps as well. I found a nice piece of scrap lumber in our garage the other day and I'm going to try to cut out or punch out little shapes and maybe even some block letters and mount them to the wood.

I sometimes do craft projects with my young cousins and other little kids, so I thought the finished shape stamps would at least be good to let them use and maybe even let them try cutting out their own shapes to make their own images.

I built a little stand for my computer to sit on. I was afraid the legs would cause dents on my antique desk. So I used some of the rubber leftovers, cut them to the size of the bottom of the leg, then stuck them on. The rubber keeps the stand from moving around and the foam keeps it from making marks in my desk.

I have wanted to try to cut my own stamps from the leftovers but haven't had good results.

That is another wonderful idea! Who would have thought of that....you are all so talented....that is why I had to post because I couldn't think of anything to come up with.

Thank you all!
