Default Laminators: what do you use them for?

besides foiling, which sure looks like fun, but what else would you use them for (in a crafting kind of way?)

I stamp unmounted images on cardstock. Laminate the page, punch with a 3 hole punch and put the stamps on the back, and store the pages in a 3 ring binder.
The Cling sticks really well to the laminated page. If I'm stamping away from home I put the page in a page protector. No lost stamps!

I make bookmarks and laminate them, punch a hole in the top and tie a piece of ribbon through the hole. I also make a 'punch' card--punch your punches on a piece of cardstock (several on one piece), then laminate it to use in your catalog to see what punches will fit any image. Laminate charts (like inks, markers, cardstock, etc.) and keep in a binder.

A lot of people laminate cardstock to stick unmounted stamps to in the pocket stamp storage system. I would rather cut up duralar, because my laminator is a bit slow. However, I love making bag tags for my team for events - stamp them and then laminate them, and I also make waterproof signs for my door, etc. with them from time to time.

I laminate plain cardstock, cut it to fit in my stamp storage system, and store ALL of my stamps on them - unmounted rubber, photopolymer, acrylic, foam-mounted that I CANNOT get the darn foam off of (pretty much only the Inkadinkaclings). Everything stays in place beautifully and I can find anything quickly. Best investment I've made into organizing, and second-best overall investment in crafty tools (the MISTI trumps it). I've also made place mats for the grandkids - either make a personalized one for them or let them draw and color and paint on 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, then run it through the laminator.

Other than bookmarks, I use the laminator mostly for reasons outside of paper crafting: recipe cards, file label protectors, preserving instruction sheets and miscellaneous wallet ID cards. Good shipping tape can accomplish much the same thing though.

Many thanks all, for weighing in. I confess, being able to laminate recipes does tip it more into the 'list' than anything else, but it still lands in my 'nice to have' list, not 'the list' (you know, the 'need to have' list, in a relative how-do-you-justify-what-you-buy-for-your-addiction/hobby/therapy kind of way. You know what I'm talking about! lol!)

Same here. I also found it invaluable when our cat went missing--I made laminated signs.

I've been happy to have it more than once, so it's been worth what I paid for it.

I LOVE my laminator. I use it so much it sets by my printer. I use my laminator more than my die cutters or my printer. This week I made a cute embellishment for my journal with my laminator. I made a journal this week from laminating pages. I could probably make a list of 1001 things I do with my laminator. Best $20 I ever spent.

Jennifer McGuire has started playing around with a laminator and showed the first thing she discovered and that was embossing then laminating with foil stamped images. Really cool. I haven't played around much yet but all the ideas the gals here have come up with so far look to be promising!

I am sorry for the late reply. I am nursing a badly broken rib that is messing up my lung. Long story.

Most of my embellishment tutorials I found Googling when I was looking for ideas like Rubber Stamp Laminator Embellishments or Laminated Scrapbook Embellishments. I just went from there. Hope that helps.

Oh DeeAnn, I just saw your post. I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. It has to be painful just to breath. I'm adding you to my prayer list, and hope you feel better soon. HUGS

I laminate just about anything! Most recently, I printed and cut my favorite sock knitting pattern, laminated the pages, then used my Bind-it-All to make a booklet. No more tattered pattern papers!

I also made a booklet of stamping stuff, like the recipe for stamp cleaner, etc., to keep in my craft studio.

DEEANN - I will pray for a speeding recovery for you!
