Hope that is spelled correctly. Anyway, they were showing this on HSN today. It was amazing all the things they used it on other than a card....belts, tennis shoes, bags, jeans, even punched through cans. I may have to break down and invest in that little bugger. Tell me I don't need one.
I can tell you that I have recently received mine in the mail from SU. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. I have used it at least a dozen times since last week. I am so happy for the ease that it brings to my life. My eyelets were sitting in a drawer not being used often because of the time that it took to use them. Now I am thinking about all the things that I can do.. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine. Best of luck.
I wasn't impressed with their sale on HSN today, but that's ok, didn't need to spend the extra money. The crop-a-dile was shown for everything except new ideas for stamping/scrapping, or did I miss something. Punching a whole on tin, belt, jeans is nice, however,it's one more new tool to add amongst so many others, now that everyone has some kind of eyelet setter already.
Enabler here. I used mine this week to put 5 sets of eyelets on 11 recipe cards, and boy was I glad I had it! Especially since hubby had gone to bed and would NOT have appreciated my hammering with the setters like the old fashion way.
I thought I didn't need one either and got another type of punch but now I realize that I can't live without one. After hearing all the praises and such I am putting it on the top of my wish list!

I've had mine for over a year....and I LOVE it! I have a galvanized steel shelf in my craft room. I needed to hand a little curtain rod on it for a ribbon holder, and I needed to put screws in...I was too lazy to go to the garage and get the drill for my screw....I reached for my cropodile and Bam! It punched like nothing! I put my screw in with the nut on the other side and it was perfecto! My friend recently lost a lot of weight....she fixed her belt with it too!
Also, it is a must have punch with chipboard! I have some heavy duty chipboard that I make card books held together with rings...it cuts perfectly through nearly 1/4-inch chipboard....I cover it with paper, and then set an eyelet in that hole and it is perfect! I just don't think that hammering an eyelet in that stuff would hold as well and look as nice!
When I first got it, I took it to show my mom, My DAD LOVED IT! He is a mechanic, farmer, construction guy, he has every kind of tool that there is....and he was so thrilled with it...he was trying to punch holes in everything in the house and was trying to figure out how he could get away with a tool with a pink handle! My brother-in-law was also as impressed!
So all-in-all......Yes, You need it!
IT also sets snaps perfectly without eating up the front of the snap, round ones or square ones...now that is hard to do with a hammer!
I'm a gadget person, but have not gotten this tool. To me it looks like it would be confusing to learn to use??
They come with directions! It's actually very easy to use, just remember to check and rotate as needed the setting part depending on which size of eyelet you're using. The tool is labeled very clearly on it which side is up and down and which side has the 1/8" and 3/16". I've only had mine a few weeks now but I love it!
I blame sunny.mac for letting me try out her crop-a-dile while making party invitations for my son's birthday. I had used the old method of punches and setting mats and the hammer before. It works, but it is kinda loud so it was lower on my list of things I wanted for crafting. After trying the crop-a-dile, the tool and eyelets shot to the top of my wish list!
You definitely need one!
Kisamari - they come in green too (mine is green and came in a case with some bonus eyelets) or you can get a black one from Stampin' Up! So if your dad really likes it, he can get a more "manly" crop-a-dile without the pink handle. Heh!
I have to chime in and say I too love mine. I have resisted buying one for a while and ended up getting one a few weeks ago. It is very easy to use. Takes NO hand strength at all. I have been trying to use my "stash" and now can use my eyelets easily...I didn't like the silent setters I had gotten but this works great. It did take me about 2 or 3 eyelets to get it right so don't use it on something "special" the first time.
hey...i might add that another GREAT thing about it is that you can "set" the hole punches so that when you punch you are able to "set it" so you can punch an entire line in a row OR line up holes for ribbons in the exact same depth from the edge of the paper. this was an added bonus
I got mine a few weeks ago from QVC (UK) my DH ordered it for me as the banging noise was too much for him when i was eyelet setting ...its brill and has made getting those holes in the right place a doddle ....Morning from sunny England ,i best away and get the kids ready for school now ..Bye

Nice to meet you AllyB! and wow from Sunny England. I'm thinking of using my AC Moore coupon and getting one from there!
Hi there ,ive never heard of AC Moore ....i lived in NV for a year and we had Michaels and JoAnns ..i became a "regular" customer ,the crop o dile is brilliant ,Its still sunny and warm here which makes a change cos we have had a very poor summer ,early on loads of rain and floods ,then ok temps ,well ok for us Brits in NV they would have had their woolies and coats out ...but today wonderful ,i like September ,kids back at school ,more time to card make and scrap .........Ive just realised i have done the very English thing and started to talk about the weather ....sorry .....
Hmm. I wasn't really considering buying it because of the cost, but now I can justify it - DH has lost a bit of weight and so his belts are too loose so I can tell him we need one so he can punch more holes in his belts. I wonder if he'll buy that?

I'm embarrassed to say I used to just roll my eyes everytime I saw one in the store, assuming it was another novelty tool that wouldn't work. Then I happened upon a video tutorial on YouTube and immediately HAD to have one. Happily, AC Moore had a 50% coupon that week so I got a great deal. The Crop-A-Dile really is a brilliant tool!
Another vote for buying it....from someone who had to get one last year with a 50% off Micheal's coupon. I LOVE IT! No more pounding...ever! And it eliminated the need for a setting mat and all those little punch and setting tools. I was so glad to see that SU has it in the catalog now!!

A couple weeks ago I decided I had to have one of these tools! Today I used a 50% off coupon for Joann's and I now have my tool.
So excited to give it a try. I have practiced a bit on scrap paper and some standard eyelets, so smooth!
I purched a Provo Craft silent setter a couple years ago, and that tool definitely was an improvement over a standard hammer and tool, but still annoying because I had to pull out the kit, set everything up, plus you have to change all the pieces after each step. When I started purchasing from SU! last January, eyelets were not anywhere on my list of needs or wants. Now they are on the top of course. Now that I am a demo I am going to stock up on all accessories! (I hardly have anything, still pretty new to everything), so I am totally excited to get different sized brads and start playing!
Now I want to punch through some tin and plastic, and find a belt to resize! lol. :-)
I bought my "dile" just because it looked really cool in the SU! catalog. I bought it from our local craft store with a 50% off coupon for around $15. The only thing I regret is that I took so long to get it out of the packaging. It looks very intimidating and I wasn't too hot on the idea of deciphering the directions. HOWEVER, once you play with it and understand how it works - you will love it. Just practice on a scrap before you use it on a project. I was squeezing the handle WAY too hard and my eyelets looked mangled.
I absolutely LOVE my CAD. Didn't know how easy it was until last week when mine arrived from Joanns. No more hammering for me! And my DH is very thankful for that. Now I will use all those eyelets I have stockpiled over the years (they used to be my least-favorite embellishment).
I was looking at Joann.com's Columbus Day specials and the CAD kit is on sale this weekend. Check it out!!
