Default I need help with Sizzix extended pad

I bought an extended pad 6x13"at hobby lobby. It is unlike the multipurpose standard pad that I am use to. It is just the pad and a very thin shim. Listed as the only pad I will ever need.
I want to cut a die that is too long for the standard pad.
I made my sandwich with pad, shim, acrylic plate paper, die. Top plate and two pieces of long glossy cardboard packing materials. It is still too thin to cut. Is there something else I should be using? I didn't realize it was not a multi purpose pad. It is opened and probably unreturnable.

When I searched for the pad, it was the only type extended pad I saw advertised for $30 Today my search shows there is a multipurpose one. How I only wish I knew that.

Since I now have this, Help to use this would be appreciated. E.

I think I have one of those extended pads too. I saw at my LSS the other day that she has a thin shim the same size. I may get it next time I am out. Have you tried adding another acrylic plate? If you are trying to cut a thin die you might be able to use two acrylic plates, the die, paper, and an acrylic plate on top. If it resists too much, don't force it. I have found I can cut anything at all if I just keep adding different thicknesses....

I initially bought the extended pad because I was tired of flipping the tabs on the multipurpose platform when I wanted to emboss. I would cut with the multi (all tabs closed) and then use the extended to emboss. I think?? I haven't done it in a while, so I think I will check it out again. Wouldn't want to steer you wrong! LOL
