Default Cricut Gypsy

I just bought a Cricut Gypsy from Cricutmachine.com. I received it in a few days. I also bought 4 carts for 14.95 each!! And shipping was very reasonable - I think around $10.
The gypsy is super easy to update. I just plugged it into my computer. I installed some software and updated it. It didn't take long.
So far I am extremely happy with my purchase.
Another place to look for a reasonably priced Gypsy is Michael's. They have them for $49. However, I have heard they are hard to find there.
Good luck!

Do you have to still buy carts? Is it free to update?

It's free to update. You have to register the gypsy on the gypsy web site. Then you can download the software, connect the gypsy to the computer and update it. I thought it took a while the first time I did it, but then I had the 5 free cartridges.

After that, you do still have to buy cartridges. You can link your cartridges to the gypsy, and once you've done that those carts can't be linked to another gypsy. On the gypsy, you can see all of the carts that exist, and the names of the ones you have (from download or linking) will be in bold, so those are the ones you can cut with. So my wish list has gotten a little longer after exploring some of the other carts

I forgot to add - Tracy - thanks for sharing the link! I'm really resisting the temptation to order carts, as I need to create more and spend less, but those are some great deals.

Default gypsy

Thanks for the info on the free carts. I just bought it at michaels, was gonna think about it at home for a few days, then they put a sign up saying all sales final...so I guess I'm keeping it now....I registered it, did the updates, and the only thing that pops up is to choose pictures. I dont know where to go to get the free carts...any help? anyone? I am not techno savy ..another question..I am using the arrows at the bottom to scroll through the titles..are those the ones that are on the gypsy that I can use and cut out? when i click the cricut with the looking glass, it takes me back to the main screen where the wrench is

I bought the one on cricutmachine.com I couldn't pass up a good deal. I am not very techno savy myself so we'll see how it goes.

When you see the cart titles, some will be in red and some will be more of a gray and will be bold. The gray/bold titles are the ones you can cut. Look to see if the 5 free ones are bold. With the going back to the main screen after clicking the looking glass (search feature), the same thing happened to me. I connected the gypsy to the computer and ran the software again. When it says "100% complete" DON'T disconnect it (that was my mistake), because it's really not done. It will then keep going and give messages about downloading carts and overlays. Then it will give a message saying it's really done. After I did it the 2nd time, I was able to use the search feature. I hope this helps!

not too surprising...seems like when they have great deals like that they only get a handful for stock- which is completely worthless. Why even have a sale if you are not going to stock that item?

Thanks for enabling me. I have been thinking of getting the gypsy and this price was the key to getting one. Friends have one and say that it is easy to use. Hope so. Enjoy your gypsy. I will have one shortly.
