I've heard that some of you use a blending marker with these? I didn't see one at the store I found the Copic markers at. Should I try to find one of these? Does it help to blend even better?
Secondly, they had limited colors to choose from...they had a small fine point and the other end was a slanted brush end. I think they had about 25 colors to pick from but I hear there are many more.
What online store do you recommend for lots of colors and good prices (or are they all about the same)?
I got a couple of green and a couple of beigy colors. I need to get some more colors though.
They run sales on their markers (I think they are $3.95 / marker at the moment), but shipping can be high. I bought colors that some of the other stores didn't carry just to round out the selection I have.
But, hands down, these are amazing and I love using them. I think it's essential to have variants of the same color (for example: SU Certainly Celery and Old Olive). If you place the lighter color on your image first, you can add a bit of the darker color and blend it with the light marker... if that makes sense to you.
Lisa - I went to CarpeDiem and bought 40 Copics!!!!! Woohoo...can't wait. Plus I got a couple of the blender markers too. With the five that I found here in town, that will give me 45 markers to play with!!!! I'm so excited, my stomach hurts LOL!
Now, I sure hope they mail out quickly...I will be going nuts waiting for these to arrive! I had them sent to my US addy b/c they don't ship to Canada so I have to drive over to pick them up but that'll be just fine with me...I'd crawl over to get these babies!!!! Again...woohoo!!!!
Oozka -- ebay seller has the best prices on the Copic markers. You can get 36A, B, C or D for 106.65 Priority shipping. I bought all 4 at different times and no problems at all. Items shipped the same day I bought them.

Gee, can you tell I'm excited!
Hi Rae!
Congrats! I ordered a boatload from them about a week ago and will have them today... stalking that delivery guy. They've shipped items to me before and have been timely.
So glad you have a bunch to play with. I am, by no means, an expert... but I'd be happy to help you once you get a supply of colors. Blending is simpler than it seems, but does have a bit of a learning curve. More is not always better with this ink.
Email me here or drop me a line via my blog. I promise to answer.
what is a good 5 colors to start with if you can't afford more. I was thinking Baby Skin Pink, yellow Green, violet, Strong Red and Prussian blue but the Violet, Strong Red and Prussian blue are all very dark. Maybe I need three lighter ones.
Blick has them on sale til sunday. I paid 4.15 for them, but I was at the store, don't know how their shipping is

I just ordered a couple of sets from MFT - they had the best prices I could find online. I admire those of you who can start with a few... I need more patience!! They should come any day -- didn't know about the blender pen though so my education continues thanks to the input of SCoasters!
I just bought some Copic Markers and I am in love. These things are awesome. I colored in a butterfly and the ability to do shading with two shades of color a few numbers apart made the effect outstanding.

I do use the blender pen, it works well to lighten, or take off color. The most important thing....IMO...is to have good paper (papertrey white or Georgia Pacific) and an ink that won't bleed. Palette and Brilliance and Adirondack are all good choices and then just go for it....I did a Kinkade card a couple of days ago with just copics and the blending ability of these markers are FABULOUS! I'm no artist and I could do it!
Paper Pretties is starting a "Copic Club" (you get 6 markers a month + free shipping). The colors are hand picked favorites... and each month a new technique and project tutorial is available.
The blender pen is in the first set for the club. I think it's essential and I LOVE how it creates a shaded, watercolored look!
