Default Fun Foam for mounting?

Could anyone please tell me if they've ever heard of anyone ever using fun foam product for mounting your unmounted rubber stamps and how it worked? I know you would have to use adhesive, and that's ok, just wondering if this product is usable for this kind of project?

I've never even thought of using it. I would think that it might be too 'squishy'. If you try it, let us know how it works. Hopefully, someone has done it and can help you.

i've never thought of that but why wouldn't it work. It's really not that much different than ez mount. I would think it's at least worth a try.

its worth just trying one stamp with, isnt it? I dont think its super squishy (I just tested some ezmount and fun foam by giving them a good old squish). Fun foam is thinner so maybe the cushion wont be as effective....but overall, a great temporary measure!

I have been mounting my UM rubber with fun foam for years and it has always worked well.

I tried it - glued the fun foam to the rubber with rubber cement and then coated the other side with TIO&O to use them as unmounted.

The stamped images were great - but the TIO&O gripped the block better than the rubber cement gripped the stamp and when I tried to peel them off the blocks, the fun foam stayed and the rubber peeled away

So, while I agree that it works just fine for cushion, I'd recommend a different method of sticking it to the stamp

If you want to use rubber cement, put a layer on both the fun foam and the rubber stamp and let both surfaces dry before attaching them. This will ensure a permanent bond.

Thanks everyone for all your replies. The Rubber Cement was exactly what I was planning on using along with the Fun Foam. I was also planning on using the tissue and vinyl technique that I saw a while ago on You Tube to attach to the foam on the other side so that I could have the image to work with as well. This has got to be so much less expensive than the crazy prices they are getting for EZ Mount.

Gail - if you want to save the money on the vinyl, you can just coat your tissue paper image with Tack It Over & Over or Mono Multi glue after you have it on the fun foam. I tried the vinyl cling on some of my stamps and really wasn't happy with it - especially with smaller stamps, it just didn't stick them to the blocks as well as I wanted. Or maybe try the vinyl on a couple and see how you like it before committing to doing it for your whole collection.
