Default Freeze paper?

I talked to a girl a couple of days a go and we began talking by crafting. During the talk she said she uses freeze paper....

I understand its a household-thing, but what do you use it for in crafting? Please unlighten me!

In quilting, freezer paper is used as a fabric stabilizer for applique and for fabric piecing techniques. Freezer paper can also be cut and made into stencils for painting, inking, etc. You can also iron thin paper such as napkins or tissue to the freezer paper to give it some stability then use it like any other patterned paper. I am sure there are other things it is used for in crafting, but these are the few things I know.

Here's a link to a US site that gives a good explanation on freezer paper. It is very versatile. Just curious - what would people in Sweeden wrap foods in for storing in the freezer? I don't use freezer paper much today and most things go in plastic ziplock bags.

Thank you!! I will check out the link

Hihi, well I guess we do the same as you! All my food in the freezer goes either in ziplock-bags och just ordinary plastic-boxes ...

One thing I've used it for that I really, really like - take a piece of patterned tissue paper (like you use for gift wrapping) and crunch it up into a ball, then straighten it out. You don't want to smooth the wrinkles out of it, just straighten it out. Then iron it onto the shiny side of the freezer paper. It makes a really nice piece of textured paper that can be used as a layer or a die cut, or it's even heavy enough to use for an envelope if you want.

You could also use a piece of plain white tissue that you've stamped a design on.

You can stamp on fabric and then iron it to the freezer paper for stability and the ironing sets your stamp colors. You can make some really cool looking tags using cheap muslin fabric and freezer paper.

Same technique with one ply of fancy paper napkins makes great background paper, also. You can iron it on to cardstock and use it as a card base.

Sometimes I sprinkle dried flower petals between the freezer paper and the tissue before ironing.

I recently used a piece of freezer paper and ran it through my silhouette and cut out a shamrock and the words "I'm LuckY". I ironed it onto a white t-shirt and used it as a stencil to paint a t-shirt for my daughter. It worked out very nicely. No paint seeped under the freezer paper and it produced really sharp images.

I couldn't get along without freezer paper...use it for all my crafting activities and quilting. It is so inexpensive and can be used in so many ways. Here's a link to a glittered shirt I did for the Art Glitter's blog; the stencils were cut from freezer paper using my BigKICK.
