DIY - Photo Studio in a Box
Hello All! Like everyone else on here, I am always looking for ways to take better quality pictures of my creations. I was recently looking into purchasing a Photo Studio in a Box but was reluctant to fork over the purchase price (after all, the new SU catty is just around the corner).
I came across this awesome blog with instructions on creating your own for less than $10.00 (really even less than that).

Linda I JUST bought one on ebay about 45 minutes ago!! Thanks so much for the tips. I saw one on mytime's blog and decided that I need to boost my pictures on my blog and in my gallery. It's funny that you just posted this. Too late for me but maybe not for someone else.
Thanks for sharing this blog. I may have to try this. I have been using those clip on shop lights covered with a handkerchief to diffuse the light but the box would be less of a fire hazard! LOL
I have to say, however, after looking at the photos I don't know how long this box would last in my house with my cat. I guess if I could put it up on shelf REAL high, it might last.
Thanks!
Kimberly

I have to say that I tired one of these DIY Studio-in-a-Box (not this one, but one I saw on another blog) and found that it was difficult to set up and not easy for constant set up/take down. In addition, I didn;t find that it helped the quality of my pictures. Hopefully others will have better results.

Check out mytime's blog. Blogs at Splitcoaststampers Here pictures look absolutely gorgeous with this system. She says she loves it. Mine is on the way so I will have to also see for myself if I like it. I'm sure it will be much better than the system I am using now which is a piece of poster board folded in half.
Heres a great thread from a Canon Photography forum I visit, it has pictures of items taken inside the box and it also show different boxes that others had made using other materials. ;)

I loved the men's comments about shopping for their materials and their impressions of Michael's craft store:
"Ok, this is getting long, so let me wrap it up. I went to Michaels tonight and bought 5 pieces of foam board and I'm about to cut the 2 side pieces so I can get my work lights to shine in. I hate to even say this, but "Michaels" is a cool little store. I told my wife that and then looked to the sky waiting for a beer can to come down and smash me."
And the reply from the original person who started the thread:
"Nice one
It was funny when I went to the craft store. There was bird chirping sounds, the whole place smelled like a huge candle and I was the only guy in there. It's such a huge place with little stuff everywhere and all I was looking for was a roll of paper. Sorry guys, but I had to ask for directions. "
I always wondered about the guys I would see wandering through the store.
