No, you're not. I do it too. I haven't figured out how to fix it, so advice would be appreciated.

hmm, sometimes i kinda like it when the paper is a little bent, but if you don't, try running it a little softer through the v of a pair of scissors, or whatever your preferred tool is, many times until you acheive the desired effect.
I used to do this all the time and sometimes I'd even rip the paper. I finally figured out that I was bending the paper when I started at one end and tried to run all the way down to the end of the paper. Now I start in the middle go up to the top and then go back to the middle and go down to the bottom.
It doesn't matter if you up first or down first, it just something about starting in the middle and only going half way. Its probably a coordination thing, but it works great for me. Now if I want a wrinkle or tear its where I want.
I always try to use the distressing tool right near where I'm holding the paper. This keeps the paper a little steadier and helps keep the bending down. So this means I'm only distressing a little bit at a time, then move my hand to the new area and distress there. I also go kind of slowly to minimize crumpling. HTH!

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks!

Are you talking about distressing with inks or the tool on the edge? I have trouble bending my card when distressing with ink and sponges. I've just learned to get a grip (on my paper, that is). When I distress the edge of my paper with the tool, I always run the edge of my paper across the wet side of my Stamp and scrub first and then it distresses very easily.
