Default Diagonal Score Lines on the Scor It

Does anyone have an easy way or a trick to getting diagonal score lines on the Scor It since there are no evenly marked lines on the board like there are on the Score Pal?

I am trying to do the same thing with the diagnol lines on my new Score-It that I just got for Christmas. I'm not sure what a drafters triangle is. Has anyone found a way to make the diagonal lines (trellis pattern)?

I score a diagonal corner to corner and then basically eyeball it (just move the corner along to the half inch mark or whatever you want and line your first score line up parallel with the steel rule by eye). Here's one in my gallery that's done that way: Patience is the companion...

I find it a fast way to work.

If you do a lot of diagonal scoring and you're not confident of eyeballing it, maybe you could draw lines with a paint pen onto the rubber surface at half inch intervals and use those to line up a first score line?

Your card is awesome. Guess I need some practice eyeballing. The first one I did didn't turn out too good. I like your suggestion of drawing the lines onto the rubber surface but I will have to make sure they are equal distance apart. I am now also wondering if I might be able to make a template out of vellum (using the eyeball method) that I could use to place over the paper I want to score.

If you're making a template, you don't need to eyeball it - you can draw lines on there. Just measure off the intervals you want along each edge then join up the dots on the diagonal (so the mark at the top of the left hand vertical edge would join with the mark at far right of the bottom horizontal edge, for example). I don't know how long a template like that would last but it's worth a go!

I thought some more about this and actually you'd only need one line if you always score at the same distance. So let's say you score at half inch intervals - you draw a line a half inch from the central steel rule, score your paper from corner to corner and line up that score line with your drawn guide to score your next line, then line that new score line up with your drawn guide for the next one and so on. Make sense?

Thanks Angelnorth! That sounds like it would work great! I haven't had any time to experiment since I started this thread. I will have more time to get back to my stamp room now and will definitely give it a try

I tried marking one line 1/2" from the steel rule. It worked perfectly! Thanks again Angelnorth.
