Do any of you keep a set in your tool collection?
I had a paper piercing tool but it has disappeared, it probably fell in the garbage and is long gone.
So I picked up a nice stainless steel set on ebay for less than $6. I have a tool at each work table and I reach for them often. They're great for poking, picking and lifting in those tiny places on my projects.
I plan on going back and ordering a set of (mini) stainless steel spatulas... and lab beaker containers...
You have to share what your using lab beaker containers for. I am so curious!!!!
Dental tools are the best! I love them. I use them for so many of my art loves- polymer clay, miniatures, scale modeling, paper crafting, etc.... My Dad had a set when I was a little girl. This was in the 70's. I was always running off with them to use in my crafts. My Dad had to buy me my own set, lol.
Thanks for the tips – I never thought to use these for my crafting! I bought a set, thinking they would help me boost my dental hygiene, but those suckers are too sharp – hard to avoid poking the gum. Suddenly my wheels are turning with ideas for putting the set to use with my papercrafts – love it!
I bought a set at Harbor Freight for next-to-nothing. You never know what you'll find there, though items are usually given a more "mechanical" name. I also got some jewelry-making tools there - small pliers, wire cutters, etc.
I love my dental tools - I bought them for next to nothing at our local auction/junk market. I've been using the disposable applicators for years. I buy in bulk for glue, tiny dots of paint, etc.
When the local Ace Hardware has dollar days bins, I always stop & look. I found a set of 3 "picks" years ago. Perfect for getting paper out of dies. One has a little curved pick, a straight pick and one is at a 90 deg right angle pick. I have no idea how you would use it for general tool purpose, but has been invaluable in my crafting - and i think i paid $3 or less from the bins
Love Harbor Freight , Ace Hardware, Lowe's, Home Depot...all hardware stores. You can find the greatest tools and storage products in the hardware stores, for lots less $$.

I guess I'm lucky. I work for a dental instrument company and have access to the scrap box. There are also cheap tweezers in about 10 different tip configurations that Orthodontists use to pick up the brackets with. I have a few of those but they don't sell them that cheap.
