DC/VA/MD - Wool Felt

I'm located in Falls Church, VA and was wondering if any crafters in the DC,VA or MD area know of local stores that carry a good selection of "wool felt". I'm looking for something comparable to PTI felt. I'm a touchy-feely kind of buyer and have a hard time buying certain things on-line. :rolleyes:

Since I'm looking to cut the felt using my big shot and PTI dies, I'm wondering if I need to buy 100% wool or if I can consider buying a Wool/Rayon combination. I know the cheap felt sold at Michael's and Joann's doesn't work well when using the big shot and paper thin dies so I'm looking for something higher quality than that.

I don't live close by but have you tried a quilt store? The felt you use for quilts needs to be dense but soft. Might be the same price as a paper crafting site but you could do the 'touchy, feely' thing. Just a suggestion-

We have a fabric store here that carries AMAZING wool felt - I'd try a little shop like that. Michael's & JoAnn just have the cheap stuff

G Street Fabrics in 7 Corners would be the best bet. There are so few fabric stores now. In addition, I think a combo felt may work quite well. wool-rayon. good luck!

Hi - I Know there is a quilt store in Old Town Fairfax called the Quilt Patch. The owner's name is Leslie. If she doesn't have it, she can get it for you.

A decent wool blend felt is fine, you don't need 100% wool. Wool blend cuts intricate die shapes much better than acrylic/fake felt (as I've discovered )
