Default Cuttlebug Thanks folder tears...

Does anyone else have a problem with their Cuttlebug Thanks embossing folder? This is only the 2nd time I've tried to use it, but both times I've given up because it tears. The tall, skinny THANKS in the middle is the worst, but everything from there up is also torn. It's not all the way through, but there is only a very small portion in the back that's not actually torn, but you can see that it's rigid and about to break.

Any thoughts?

maybe moisten the paper(cs) with a little water first? Does not have to be soaked. Thats how I do it(thanks to other users suggestions). Especially with scrapbook paper or vellum. Give it a whirl.

Lightbulb Forgot to mention....

I have noticed the paper may curl after taking it from folder while still moist and during drying time. Possibly leave in folder to dry as well weighting it down a little before removing. (Must start your project this way the night before.(LOL) I know that's hard to do if you're under time constraint. Food for thought!

I JUST GOT MY THANKS FOLDER AND WANTED TO SEE IF WAS GOING TO TEAR. IT DIDN'T TEAR, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE STRESS IN THE PAPER FROM IT BEING EMBOSSED

What kind of paper are you using? My SU cardstock doesn't tear, but sometimes other thinner paper will. If your Bug is new, it may still be in the "breaking in" phase. Some Bugs come really tight, and those just take a little work to "loosen" them up.

The first time I realized it was probably the paper, but this time I used a heavy (not SU) glossy white paper. It's not as heavy as SU but it's probably only slightly lighter. I've used it with all my other folders and haven't had any problems. I'll see if I have a heavier weight white...I just really like the gloss finish with the embossing folders. Hope that works!

You could also try putting 2 sheets of cardstock in and see what happens! :-)

I've used mine with SU cardstock and brazzill with much success. I haven't used it with thinner paper yet. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I tried it using the glossy cs and a scrap piece of printer paper and neither of them tore! Thank you for all of the suggestions!

I have used my Cuttlebug with wallpaper. It works great and no tears.

Maybe it would help to rub some wax paper on the paper first? I haven't tried it yet though, and I don't have that specific folder.
