I would love to! Also make sure you are using the die foam side up.

Yes, try to pick up some extra plates, but I doubt you will break one anytime soon if you only have a CB die. For me, it's always been a Sizzix Large die that has broken my plates.

Enjoy your Bug! You'll figure out its little quirks (just like a real baby!) over the next week or two!

I am enjoying my cuttlebug so much! I made recipes for all types of templates (sizzix, friskars, brass templetes) I've tried all of them they work! Use this chart to get your moneys worth of your cuttlebug!

Oh man... I am so mad at myself. I am making a set of birthday rolodex cards (one for each month). I have a Boss Kut rolodex die. So... I used my Xyron machine and decorated both sides of 12 different pieces of chipboard. All was done and pretty and then I attempted to run them through the Cuttlebug. Nope. Darn die wouldn't cut. Now, a smarter person would have probably done a trial run of cutting chipboard with the die before going to all of that work. The good new is that I still had enough of the patterned cardstock that I could use to cut the rolodex cards out of just that. AND... now I have twelve 4-1/2 x 2-3/4 pieces of decorated chipboard to use for something else later.

Okay, so I guess I'm not SO mad... maybe just a little ticked.

Thank you for this great resource! I'm curious about the brass template recipe. When you say "gray rubber sheet" are you talking just regular rubber? Where would a gal get rubber sheets that size?

Thanks again!

IT'S CALL SHOWER PAN LINER. YOU GET IT AT LOWES OR HOME DEPOT THE SELL BY THE FOOT IN A LARGE ROLL BY THE TUBS AND SHOWERS. ITS A REALLY THIN PLASTIC LIKE LINER LIKE A TARP OR SOMETHING. AND YOU HAVE IT CUT. THEN YOU COME HOME AT CUT THE SIZE OF YOUR PLATES. ITS AWSOME I GOT THIS IDEA FROM ONE OF THE THREADS HERE.

Well, I will be subscribing to this thread...

I got the Cuttlebug Bug one day this past week when a lady in AC Moore's got to telling me how much she loved her Cuttlebug. So when AC's decided to have their stuff at 40% off this week, I zoomed to the store...Got the Bug itself, the Square scalloped die, the paisley die, and the round wreath looking embossing folder.

I am as excited as can be...I can't wait to try it all out...

Will SU cardstock work in the Cuttlebug, or is it too thick?

After reading parts of this thread, I am convinced I should go back and buy an extra set of B plates while they are 40% off...

Thanks!

Talking The Bug

Hi ladies,
After reading through this thread, I went to Michael's yesterday and bought it with the 50% off coupon. The cashier did say it would not be valid on the Bug. I told her to try it, she did, and I am now the owner of the Bug. I love this thread-so much good information. Thanks to everyone for sharing!!

After going to Home Depot several times and told they don't know what the plumbers gasket is, I went to Lowes. Thanks to the gal (sorry forgot her name) for showing a picture of what the package looks like, I finally found someone who wanted to help. They sell individual 6x6 pieces, for $1.38. The only problem is that it is 1/8 thick. I don't know if that will be too thick. Will let you know when I experiment with Cat's Sandwiches.
If at first don't succ........ Helene

You can use SU cardstock--you can even use medium weight coasters. The dies are what determine if your image will cut. Cuttlebug and Sizzix original dies will cut all kinds of thick materials. Sizzlits, Ellison Thin Cuts, and Quickutz will only cut cardstock.

Teenastamps, the website is http://www.provocraft.com/products/i...p?cl=cuttlebug
Although allthatscraps.com or one of the other vendors may be just as helpful.

Chickers, I think there is still hope! Try running them thru the correct way for awhile and see if that helps.

Are you referring to the smaller folders?

The short answer is, you don't. You can do as I mentioned as rub them out from the back of the cardstock with your bone folder. You can cut the embossed piece out and layer it. But the reality is there is an edge, and the pressure embossing is going to make a mark there.

I still like the little folders, and I use them, too.

This blog entry at Provo Craft talks (with photos too) about how to avoid the marks:

Hmmm... I think the blog entry is talking about the light square lines that are on the small embossing folders. (I need a nap or caffeine.)

LOL

This might be a dumb question, but I couldn't find demensions on the embossing folders. Exactly how big are they? Is it a full 4.25x5.5 or a tad smaller?

I'm full of questions this morning

do you ever have to replace the spacing block?

And, I saw somewhere in my searching a list of papers it would accept, but now I can't find it...anyone know off hand?

Ladies...I sent my hubby to Home Dept to buy the plumbers gasket stuff. They only sold it in packages of 6 ft for $7.00. If anyone would like to have a foot please send me a pm. It would be like $1.50 plus a little bit for shipping.

Talking The Rest of the Story...

Well...I decided that because I really wanted to make this card...I would try it again with my THIRD Cuttlebug and the latest Rubber Gasket I purchased. I ran some embossing folders through it first to break it in. Then with much trepidation...I put my sandwich stack together with the Fiskar's Ocean Waves Plate. And turned the crank ever so s-l-o-w-l-y..., it started making cracking noises half-way through...I stopped, and said "Should I or Shouldn't I?" Then ... I finished cranking...and Voila...it didn't break. So I did 25 more!! Here is my card...tell me if you think it was worth it? LM

So the question is...do it try it again?? Will the third time be the charm? What do you all think? If I knew how to do a poll, I would do it for this. I really would like to use my Fiskars Ocean Wave Texture Plate for the card I am making. LM

Amber, I think you sent a message , or al least someone did from this message board. I had pop-ups blocked, then I unblocked them-now I can receive messages.
The problem is...I don't know how to retreive the message. I'm sorry, but I have no idea. So, in the event you did send a message, please resend.
Thanks so much!!

To retrieve a pm (private message), go to the top right of this page where you see "Welcome Lilaclady." Next to that is a little envelope. Click it. Now you are in your private message section.

Amy, thanks for this great thread! I just got my bug on Friday and guess where I got it? In Nampa at Mike's! Exit 33 B has great shopping compared to what I have in my town! All my fave stores are in that area so I'm not driving all over Boise to get to everything. =)

LOL We're neighbors! It is wonderful to have shopping without going to Boise, isn't it? Congratulations on your new Bug. That Michael's has the best selection anywhere.

seems like I remember reading on the Provocraft blog that they don't sell extra "C"s (I thought that was rather silly as well!) sorry to ask, but did yours break or are you just getting one "in case"?

From THERE with other junk too:
On May 15, 2007 Karin van den Berg said..
I am a little confused about the quickutz recommended method - as stated by another user, there's currently no cutting pad C replacement available. However, the stack requires one C and one B cutting pad, why not place the B cutting pad on top (as the actual cutting pad)? Why is it stated that you should use the C pad? In my view, by putting B on top you will always be using B pads for the cutting and would only need to replace those, the pressure on the D is the same. Is there a reason I'm missing to use C on top?

As far as the Quickutz embossing/goosebumpz dies are concerned, I'm not sure if it's wise to use the same combination as with normal QK dies, as the goosebumpz are thicker. The Quickutz Revolution also comes with a thinner embossing mat that you need to use instead of the cutting mat when using the embossing dies.

Karin - you have a very good point. Thank you for your sharp eyes.
The 'C' mat/plate is an adapter plate which comes with Cuttlebug. Yes, there is no ‘current’ replacement available, and using the ‘B’ mat/plate on top is a great alternative to make the ‘C’ mat/plate last as long as possible.
And there are still other alternatives as well. We have recommended vulcanized rubber as one, in order to adapt other thin dies and embossing plates to fit in the Cuttlebug. As long as you can pass the stack through to cut/emboss without doing damage to the mats/plates or especially the Cuttlebug

***

Can you tell I just bought mine and I'm overreading EVERYTHING!?
