I went to the cricut link - was helpful, thank you.
I printed out some instructions someone had posted, and had a play around. I do not think that they give a nice smooth corner though....maybe I still don't have the knack yet!
Well, I've had that die for at least two years and I think it looks pretty lame. I've cut several 'photo mounts' using this die in two years and have yet to use one on a project ... they just don't look right.
Or else, it's me and I'm doing something wrong ...
And the minute I sell it, or give it away, I'll suddenly discover how wonderful it was and want it back.
Is it safe to assume that any dies used on the origianl Sizzix machine will owrk on a cuttlebug? I want to get a CB, but want to make sure that all my dies can be used from my heavy, large original Sizzix.
Thanks!

The "hole" in the cb is about 6 inches wide, so as long as yor dies are smaller than that one way you should be good. I just got the top note from SU and it works great in the cb. If you get a cb, you will LOVE it!

Thanks. I just got it. A little confused aout when to use the C pad. With thick sizzix originals dies, right?
I have to read more about it in this thread.
I can't seem to find this answer but I am hoping some of you awesome ladies have used these and can enlighten me....please I bought the Sizzix Texturz plates from SU to use in my CB, because it is awesome and accepts everything!, but I can't seem to get the right 'sandwich' to have it emboss clearly. Do I have to buy an add on to make them work in my CB? Thanks so much for any advice!
I was lucky enough to get a gift card from a friend for Joann's. Well I have been waiting 4 months to buy something for my Cuttlebug. Hubby and I went off to Joann's and I bought 9 new Cuttlebug embossing folders @ 2.99 each right now and a package of Fiskars embossing plates. I am so excited , so enough reading. I am off to create something! Thanks to everyone who contributes to this board, I got so much information!

I just got a cuddlebug. I've went on youtube and found alot of different ways to use it. Just one question. They talk about Spellbinders, Nestability, Fiskars and Sizzix dies and embrossing. Can you get all of them at Joann,Micheals and Archivers? I hope you ladies can help me. Thanks for any answer.

I don't think Michaels or JoAnn's carries Spellbinder products yet. The Nestabulities are made by Spellbinders. Hobby Lobby does carry a limited selection.

I am a brand new owner of a Cuttlebug and I LOVE IT!!! I debated the Cricut Create but didn't want another corded machine plus the price was a turn off. Michaels had the 'Bug on sale for 50% off (including the machine) and I was able to purchase several embossing folders and dies at both Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I also purchased two Nestabilities sets.
I'm having so much fun with my little 'Bug and I love the embossing feature. I can't wait to make more cards using it.
you gals are slowly convincing me of getting a Cuttlebug. Our Michels had them 50% off as well but that only made them a very few dollars lessthan WalMart is selling them for at regular price. I would really like to have some machine to do embosing and die cutting, just want to get the one that is the best buy for my money.
I finally got a CB with the excuse that I need it to make all the wedding invitations and other stuff for my son's wedding next March. So far 4 invites made but now the production line is in full swing!
Do you cut into your C plate? I have seen some stacks posted where the die cuts into their C plate. I tend to use my B plates for the cutting surface.
nope, i don't cut into my C plate. i make sure it's above the A plate and it's the B plate that goes on top of the die and gets cut. Only one B plate has cutting marks on them. it works the same whichever you cut into. I just don't want to have to replace my C plate.
I don't cut into my C plate, either. The stores in my area normally stock the B plates and those are easier to replace. Two B plates cost less than one C plate.
I have not been able to find any info on how to use a 4 x 12 folder on the smaller A & B plate cuttlebug system. How do I do it?
I think you need to buy the longer plate adapter. I am not sure if you are talking about the longer sizzix dies but, if so I know they make a set of plates you use with the long dies. Hope that helps Here is a link http://www.sizzix.com/category/Machine+Accessories
I asked this question on a different thread and never got an answer. Maybe I didn't ask on the correct thread! Hopefully, someone knows the answer here! I use the Nestabilities alot on my Cuttlebug and love it. However, I would really like to have a magnetic sheet to hold the nesties together when cutting with close margins. I know that Spellbinders makes a magnetic sheet that can be used with the Wizard, but does anyone know what can be used with a Cuttlebug and where to get one?

I use a magnet from a 4x6" picture holder for the fridge. I just tore the clear pocket off the front. Works great, you might just have to adjust the thickness of your plates. I bought it in our dollar store, I think they came 2 or 3 in a pack for $1.

Broken Cuttlebug - a bad design?
I am very sad and disappointed that my cuttlebug broke. Yep! The machine itself. The end opposite the handle popped off and I noticed that the seam on top of the CB split open. I was trying to use a Sizzlet die. The sandwich recommended did not give me a clean cut and so I added one sheet of card at a time hoping to get the right thickness to get a clean cut. It never happened as it popped open with the addition of 2 cards!. I sent an email to Provocraft seeking advice.( I didn't want to call since I am in Australia). No reply was forthcoming, so my husband who is a Mechatronic engineer pulled it apart and after investigating it says that it is not really strong enough to continually withstand the pressures that it exerts upon itself. He tried 3 different ideas for repairing it with no success -as soon as pressure is exerted on the rollers one of the shaft moves and the cogs separate - it wont even emboss. Trouble is that I am not sure that I can get a Big Shot here in Australia as I hesitate to get another Cuttlebug in case it happens again! I am one very sad lady.
madmichelle - I'm so sorry this happend to you. The exact same thing happened to me a few months back. I telephoned Provocraft and they sent me a replacement.

I have to agree that Provocraft have a fantastic customer service, they are totally replacing my broken Cuttlebug. (Yep even to Australia).
They stand behind their product and their customers. Being a manufacturer myself I can appreciate their stand. Maybe I was just unlucky - everyone can't be wrong. We all love our Cuttlebug don't we?
FYI
Walmart.com has a good selection of nestabilities, embossing folders and other supplies. You need to scroll to the bottom of the list of departments (left side) and click on list all departments. There you will find craft and click on that.
They offer free shipping and you can have it shipped to the store closest to you.
What a great idea!!! I didn't know they had nestabilities. I've been wanting to get a set or two for a long time and not paying shipping....awesome!!! Does anyone have any suggestions on what sets they like? Do nestabilities emboss, cut, or both??? Thanks for the advice.
