I picked mine up on Tues night with the 40% coupon here and yes, the cashier did question whether I could use the coupon or not. I pointed out all the points and she did it and the computer accepted it. (of course!) I think I am going to play today and pack up my Sizzix and ship it off to someone else.

our michaels carries them for 79.99 i think. they will accept one of their 40-50% off coupons on them, making the price much more reasonable...

Yes, I agree. The storefront price is about $80. Our Joanns have them regularly priced at $90 (weird). But online, you should be able to find one at about $60, I would think.

I just bought one today at Michaels with a 50% off coupon. The regular price was 79.99. I actually came home, took it out of the box and tested it out. (Normally my new toys can sit for quite a while.)
I love it! It is just so cool and easy to use. (if I can figure it out on my own, we know its gotta be user friendly)
Thanks for all the info here --- you ladies are the best.

Default cardstock/cardboard shims

Could someone please tell me what a cardstock shim is. Am working with the cuttlebug and using the Fiskers template and brass templates. Instructions sometime call for a shim but do not know what it is or where to get one.
Thanks

My interpretation of a cardboard shim is to function as an adjustment to the thickness of the "stack". In other words it is cardboard possibly folded as much as needed to make sure that it is tight enough when sending it thru. Anybody else? I've not done it personally, yet.

Hi

This may be a dumb question, but do you emboss on a cut cardstock and then adhere it to your card or can an actual whole card go through the cuttlebug--folded over? Does this make sense to anyone?

Jeanne Marie
You can put the whole card through the cuttlebug, but don't fold it over. It comes out perfect with just one side embossed.

Just so I have it clear. When you use the whole card to emboss the front only, you put the bottom of the card on the outside of the folder and obviously the front of the card inside the folder and then sandwich it between your A and B plates and run it through?

Chrisi1965
I think you have it clear. It is all in one layer with the back of the card exposed and the front of the card in the folder. The folder goes through first followed by the back of the card. Clear as mud??? I just did a bunch last night

Thanks! I wish this was posted last night when I made my card! I did a sep. piece of cs for the front and attached it to the card. Ohh well, it still turned out nice.

Hi there. I spent some time looking over the Cuttlebug at my last trip to Michael's after half of the projects I made at a shoebox swap used the Cuttlebug! There's no way I'm going to get it now - I am pregnant with twins and they're coming in 4-6 weeks. How much stamping am I TRULY going to get in??? However, I am a teacher, and the boxes said any regular die-cut machine would work on the Cuttlebug embossing folders and die-cuts. I want to know if my one at school will do the same thing - that would be for free!

Can Qwik Kuts dies be used in the CB? They are from the hand held one not the machine? I believe they can but don't want to find out the hard way!

As ignorant as this is to admit out loud, I bought the QK a couple years ago and NEVER used it yet!! Somebody smack me!! So, is there any special way to use them in the Cuttlebug? And yes, I have used my Cuttlebug and LOVE it!! Do I use the same boards that I do for the embossing folders or do I use the C one in place or something else that I should buy? Thanks

Here is what Cat's stack list (linked on the first page of this thread) says about QK dies:

QuicKuts Dies (Regular) Plate A, Plate B, Die, Cardstock, Plate C Plate A,

For Chipboard: Plate C, Die (cutting side up), Chipboard, Cardstock shim, Plate B

I have a Cuttlebug and love it. Found Ellison Dies for the Big Shot that I would like to have, but would like to know if any one knows if the thick cut dies would be to thick for the cuttlebug. I think the Ellison Thin cut dies would probably work, but I don't know about the thick cut. Thick cut measures 5 1/2"X 6" but they don't say how thick. Can anyone answer this one? Rita

They work. They are the same size as Sizzix originals.

Regular vellum will usually tear in the embossing folders, but the SU cardstock vellum works beautifully!

I've seen it on ebay, and on the Ellison site (http://www.ellisondesign.com). I want it, but haven't been willing to pay the $20 plus shipping yet.

Default New cb folders at Michaels

I just got back from our Michaels with a much lighter wallet. They were just putting out all new cb folders and dies. There was sooo much to choose from. Good thing I have a part time teaching job coming up soon.

Default Friskars

Does anyone know if the embossing tiles that is made by Friskars work with the cuttlebug? I have multiple sets of them and I would hate to spend money if they will not work in it.

Can you use the Wizard Charm Kit or the BISK in the original Sizzix die cut machine for brass stencils? I have numerous brass stencils and would love to be able to use them in the Sizzix.

I haven't heard too many good things about the Wizard. I got my CB last Friday at Michaels and was able to use the 50% coupon. The CB takes just about everyones dies and folders. I love it. The embossing is so crisp and sharp. A friend did 200 swirl pages for her daughters wedding invites. She said the last one was just as sharp and crisp as the first one. I think it's an incredible machine. I also have the Cricut and love it too.

Default New Cricut?

Thank you!
I know this quote is almost a month old, but I'm a new Cricut user and a serious Cuttlebug fan. Maybe I could help. I was a little disappointed after buying the original Cricut to find out that there was going to be a NEW, BIGGER version available! Then, I played with my Cricut and realized that the larger format wouldn't be of much benefit to me, since I really will only use it for scrapbooking and cardmaking.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I paid $139 for the Cricut, and the lowest I've seen a pre-buy for the new one is $349. The difference in cost wouldn't be offset by the new features for me. Plus, I like being able to pull it out to use it and then put it away when I'm done or bring it to a friend's place. The newer model will be a stay-put device. I'm certainly not saying that there isn't a niche for the newer model, I'm just saying that in my situation, the current model more than suffices. So, if you really don't need a large format, open that box and have a ball!!

I just have to tell everyone how much I love my new Cuttlebug, I have been putting off purchasing it for a long time, I just could not justify it because I have the big older Sizzix and did not want to put out more money when I have something already.
But, I am so happy I did, I love, love the Cuttlebug, so easy to use and I can use all of my sizzix dies in it! HOw great is that? But, what has Wowed me the most is the embossing folders, they are just fabulous, I love them and so does my class. Just so darn easy for a such a dramatic effect.
I purchase my Cutttle bug at ACMoore for 30% off, they had a sale that day I went in with my coupon and I did not want to wait another week to get the other 10% off, so I just purchased it then. But, they were very limited in what dies and embossing folders they have so I only purchased a few. Last night I found a link right here at SCS for the Cutttlebug and supplies that had free shipping, GREAT! The best thing is they have all the dies and embossing folders, so I ordered 5 at $4.99 each, no tax or shipping. I thought that was pretty good, I didn't have to leave the house and search for stores to see what they had available, no wasted gas. They also carry the Cricut and all the supplies for them.
I just had to share my excitement with everyone.

I am so excited! First, thanks to everyone for sharing all the tips you have found on using the Cuttlebug and especially to the authors of the Cuttlebug Sandwich Stack Rules.

I own several Fiskars plates and what a pain to emboss with them. Then I saw about ordering the kit that runs about $10 (forget the name of it now). So I went into one of the many sites that carry the kit to order and was floored that shipping was going to cost as much as the kit. Decided I didn't need it that bad. After further reading the zillions of Cuttlebug threads I read about the plumber's gasket rubber. DH was going to Home Depot today so I tagged along. Picked up a package (which has two sheets of gasket rubber size 6" x 6" and 1/16" thick for $3.99. Got home and tried it out according to the Sandwich Stack Rules and it WORKS!!!

Again, thanks to all of you for sharing the many tips ... I feel like I've won the lottery!

I've waited to finally use my 50% coupon for Joanns, I'm getting my CB tomorrow...hopefully it won't be a hassle. I can't wait to start using it, my twin sister loves hers, she's OKstamper on SCS.

If I have any problems or questions, I'll just come back here and ask them.

Question Please help..

I am having a terrible time finding the different materials for using with the Fiskar's Templates. When I saw this post, I thought I finally had found my answer. But Home Depot had never heard of this stuff. I did find a Gasket Kit at Ace ZHardware, but it did not have 1/16" rubber in it. What it had was three 6x6 pieces of, 1 each:
-Rubber: 3/32" thick
-Black Fiber: 1/32" thick
-Cork: 1/16' thick

Will any of these work? Please help!

Thanks,
LM

Hmm. I would try the black fiber, then the cork, then the two together. (Scientific method, right? )

I think you might also try a layer of fun foam (next to the template) with both the black and the cork. Let us know if any of those work.

-Black Fiber: 1/32" thick
-Cork: 1/16' thick

Will any of these work? Please help!

Thanks,
LM
