The only thing I can think of is to try new, flat plates. Sometimes my plates will get so bowed, that certain parts of a die won't cut. Or try moving your die to a different place (not the center) of your plate "sandwich."

One other thing I have run into is when die cutting 2 things at once, sometimes I will get uneven cutting. If I offset them (again, away from center, and not lined up), I get better cutting.

If those things don't work, I would say your die is defective.

I would agree with this opinion. Call Provocraft. They're pretty receptive.

Thank you. I will try a different spot and if that doen't work I will call Provo's. I really like these combo die's. I really got a lot of compliments on the autumn leaf one and a fall full size folder. I was hoping to use the snowflake also. If only I could tackle the computer better and learn how to put the pictures of my cards on the computer now. That would be another acomplishment. I tend to stay away from the computer however, I love the ideas and help from everyone here. thank you

People have mixed experiences with OMC. Half are very happy. The other half are very unhappy, so be careful.

Other places that carry CB folders at a great price with reasonable shipping:

All That Scraps free shipping $25 and up; $2 shipping under $25

Cut at Home ships flat-rate and priority

Scrapbook Pal Free shipping over $25

I live in Canada and have had no problem with OMC I've only been ordering from them in the last 4-5 months but all experiences have been good.

I have had no problem with OMC, either. I think there was a lot of email problems when they were changing their system- but they asked customers to be patient and explained what the problem was. AND they apologized, which is a LOT more than some other companies do,IMHO.

I had ordered a Cricut cartridge, fully expecting it to arrive in Nov. as they explained on the site. I was AMAZED when it showed up at my door about 2 weeks after I ordered it (in Sept.)! LOL

I do order from Cropstop, too. Can't beat FREE shipping on embossing folders to the US and Canada! WOW!!!

The answer is probably in here but I have been reading forever and my eyes are too buggy to do anymore.....is there anyway not to show the lines from the folder when you emboss? Or I suppose I should ask, do your non-crafty non-cuttlebuggers notice the line thingy or is it just me that is sticks out HUGE? Or am I doing something wrong? Or?

I only have the small ones with the stamp that came with it--but you do that to the pre-cut paper template thingy so it doesn't show up--and a set of Birthday ones--small--so perhaps it is more apparent with the little ones. (I just bought me the Cuttlebug for my birthday so haven't had the chance to buy any more yet. I did buy the folder keeper thingy so I won't lose them though.

Any other tips I need to know?

Default Pillow Box Die Help needed!

Hi... I've searched and can't find the answer to this and I'm hoping someone might have an answer for me. I just got the pillow box die and used the same sandwich in my CB that cuts my other dies (top note, leaves and layered flowers) plate B, die, cardstock, plate B, but with the pillow die, its cutting right through on the little flap ends. I've tried different shims and the tan mat, and no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks so much for any help!
Katie

Have you tried using the crease pad? I think any die with score lines is supposed to be used with it. You use the crease pad in place of one of your B plates.

You'll need the Premium Crease Pad for dies that have "score" lines

Its to big to fit in the CB so you will have to cut it to fit.

Default Pillow Box Thanks!

Thanks so much to all for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate your help. I didn't even think of the crease pad....just thought I could make it work if I did the sandwiches a different way! I'll be adding the crease pad to my order this weekend

Thanks again!

Just got my cuttlebug out of the box after having it over a year. Got it at a big chain store...and they did not have a CLUE what I should do with it...

But...saw a demo at LSS, bought a new embossing folder, just tried it, and wooHOO...8 cardfronts in record time! YAY!

Tips for newbies like me...

If your stack does not advance into the bug when you are trying embossing folders, you may have plate C when you need plate B.

Also...If you get your embossing folder too close or on the ProvoCraft label at the end of the plates, then your Bug will stop, and you will have to lift top plate, and slide embossing folder slightly away from the label, without opening the folder, and you can continue to do the cardfront.

Also...I realized I could crank the handle either way, and have my embossing folder move left to right or right to left. Does anyone know if the Bug is MADE to do this? I don't want to put extensive wear onto my machine...

Thanks!

Yes, you can roll it both ways--makes no difference at all.

And for the post about premium something--ah, I forgot--what is it? The crease pad thing. Didn't have a chance to try out the technique to not have the lines yet--my son had an amazing ballroom dance event that I was busy with, but this week, I am going to play and try. Wish me luck.

I have the same question. I want to get the pillow box die and the Top Note die from Stampin' UP! and wanted to know if they will work in a Cuttlebug? Also, what about Sizzlets? Can you use them in a Cuttlebug too?

*All sizzix brand dies will work in the Cuttlebug HOWEVER your Cuttlebug opening MUST be at least 6 inches wide for the Bigz or Bigz XL to fit through the opening.

You can break your plates when using Steel Rule Dies such as the Bigz, Bigz XL dies in your cuttlebug
These dies were made to be exclusive to the Big Kick and Big Shot Machine Only.
The Premium Crease Pad, Extended Cutting Pads are to WIDE to fit through the opening of the Cuttlebug machine.

The sizzix dies with "crease" lines need the Premium Crease Pad. You will have to cut it to fit in your cuttlebug.

Hugs and Blessings

Default Nestabilities Question

Hopefully I am posting this question in the appropriate place ...

I am interested in purchasing a set of Nestabilities scalloped circles. What is the benefit of buying one size over another (i.e., S4-114 vs. S4-115 vs. S4-116, etc.)? At this time I can only invest in one set. Which do you think is the most versatile?

I just looked at mine and I didn't see any number markings on the packaging, so I am not sure my answer will help you. However, mine do say "scalloped cirlcles - large" and I have found them to be very versatile. I think any smaller would be too small for my purposes and larger ones wouldn't fit on the size of card I generally do. There are several nesties in the package, so I always have been able to find one that suits my need. I hope this helps. Now, I need to post again because I have a question, too!

My B plate is warped. Is that normal after say 25 uses? I just noticed and so have flipped it over so maybe it will bend back the other way. Any experienced CBers out there that can reassure me? Thanks!

Nestabilities: The sets are layered so that the biggest in the Large set is just slightly bigger (can't remember if it's 1/4" or 1/8") than the largest in the Small set! So any set is fine--you'll have a variety of sizes. The benefit to buying both sets is you can do "tighter" layers.

And yes, it's normal for your B plate to warp almost immediately. Just keep flipping and rotating it, and try to place the dies in different places on the B plate--not always right in the center.

They are meant to be used together to get the 1/8" spacing between sizes. Dies are 1/2" smaller on each size as you go down each 'step'.

Within each set, you'll get 1/4" matting. Get both and you get the 1/8" matting.

Hugs and Blessings

Alicia (or anyone else who knows)...

What is a crease pad for and how does it work? I saw on online and wonder if I should get one for my brand new Cuttlebug (and yes Michaels honoured the 50% off coupon today).

Cheers,
