Did you look at the CropStop.com videos? That's the link to the 12" quickutz/cuttlebug one.

Default cuttlebug/fiskars

I know I read somewhere on this thread about using foam mats to help use the plastic Fiskars embossing plates with my Cuttlebug machine. I think she said she got them from the dollar store, I saw some at HL yesterday but wasn't sure of the thickness. Also where do you get the silicon baking mats?

Can the QuicKuts dies for the Revolution be used in the Cuttlebug machine?

Yes, just replace the bottom B plate with the C plate. Using the C on the bottom avoids getting cuts on it.

I just ordered a cuttlebug and decided to go looking for information while I wait! Guess I have a lot of reading to do while I fill in the time! I can't wait to try some of the things I've seen in the galleries.

Angelus,

Whew! Thank you for replying to me. I just won some QuicKuts nesting circles and squares (the reason I bought a Cuttlebug in the first place, though I love the embossing folders) of of ebay for a really good price.

I can't wait to get them.
Thanks for replying so quickly.

So ever since I heard I could use my Ten Second Studios embossing molds in my Cuttlebug I have been so excited. The Big Momma ones go through the best. They are two sided and for some reason they don't show the reverse sides on their website. I just ran it through the bug. My sandwich was (from the bottom up) A plate, Big Momma plate, metal sheet, rubber pad and B plate. It worked like a charm. You may need to adjust this per your machine and the thickness of the metal. I bought rolls of metal from Dick Blick . The rubber pad is from the Sizzix Embossing kit. I used a previously made ATC to make this card. The metal accents are from WeR Memory. The stamps are Memory Box and Oxford Impressions.
I will say the impression is quite good and a lot less work then using the tools to emboss. I just love my bug. You can see the card on my blog.

I will be in the USA on Monday on holiday. I plan on stocking up on Cuttlebug folders while there. I live in Germany and we pay a FORTUNE (3x more than the prices in the U.S.) for the products here and they are also much harder to acquire.

My question is if anyone can tell me up front craft stores that carry Cuttlebug folders in the following areas: San Francisco area, Las Vegas area and the Flagstaff, AZ area.

That would be so great and a big help... and I can spare my husband's nerves by not having to take him in ALL the craft stores just to find the CB products.

Thank You!

Default Nestabilities and CB

Hi - I was ready here and someone mentioned a mouse pad - how does this work when embossing with the Nestabilities and the CuttleBug. I got my first set of Nesties and am anxious to try embossing - it looks so elegant on a card. Thanks for any help you can give me Col

Hi there,

I hope you can help with a question I have. I have a Cuttlebug, and the plates that come with it. If I remember rightly, that includes two B Plates for embossing/cutting.

Well, one plate looks like new still because I always use that on the bottom, i.e. on top of the C Plate. Whereas, the other B plate is the one I always cut into. Question: I'm getting to the stage where I've cut a fair bit into my B Plate both sides. When I emboss, the cut marks on the top B Plate kinda show on the cardstock. What do you all do in this situation? Do you just buy another B Plate or is there something else/trick that you can do, i.e. reverse the plates or some other tip?

Thanks for reading, would love to hear from you with other suggestions.

I have read that some use a separate set of plates for embossing. I think this is a good idea. When I am cutting I keep flipping the plates so they will not bow or break as easily. HOpe this helps.

I will definately do this. Then I can label them Cutting and Embossing. What a fabulous Idea. Thanks much.

I haven't seen them out anywhere locally (not the area you're going too, though). Could you place an online order and have them sent to your hotel???? Or wherever you're staying?

Some people have had success using a thin mousepad instead of the tan embossing mat. If you search this thread for Nestabilities, you should be able to find more instructions. Or Julie Buhler has a blog tutorial you could check out. http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_...cuttlebug.html

Hope you find what you're looking for!

I use the mat that comes in the sizzix texturz plates starter kit, and it works fine.Whichever mat you choose, if it doesn't work well, you may just need to make the stack/shim thicker, use chipboard, thin cardboard, cardstock etc. This goes for anytime you have a die that doesn't cut well also.

I love, love, LOVE the cuttlebug olivia alpha! That "thanks word is so cute" see the card I just created with it!

I cut out dp and chipboard at the same time and then adhered them together. Gives a great dimensional look!

I don't think the new stuff comes out until August sometime. I just placed a pre order with 7kidscollegefund.

I imagine that a few ill be as hard to get a hold of as the swiss Dots was earlier this year.

Sometime it is best just to wait until the rush is over. However if you pre-order you get a better price.

On the other hand, Joann's did honor one of their 40% off coupons for the same set w/o batting an eye. Policies must differ depending on the store.
I took my 40% coupon to Michaels in Tucson and they honored it on the Cuttlebug. The clerk read the coupon and because it didn't contain the word Cuttlebug, they honored it. Boy was I lucky!

Michael's and JoAnne's both carry Cuttlebug but look for the larger stores for a better supply.

I'm looking to purchase a Cuttlebug, and have found these two descriptions. Aside from the one with the die, what is the difference? Which should I get? I mostly want to emboss with my Cuttlebug, and maybe get Nesties eventually...

1 Cuttlebug Machine
1 5-Piece Celebration Stamps Die Set
1 Cutting Spacer Block (A)
2 Cutting Mats (B)
1 Thin Die Adapter
1 Instruction Booklet

OR
1 Cuttlebug Machine
1 Spacer A
3 Cutting Pads B + C
1 Instruction Booklet

I *think* the only difference is the die set included. That is the one I got at J's for $45. I think the "thin die adapter" is plate C.

I think overstock had two different models and they were $10 difference. I think the die set is cute but I probably wouldn't pay $10 for it.

You should check out www.crazyscraps.com - that's where I got my Cuttlebug for only $59.99 and with the 10 embossing folders & storage binder and four additional binder sleeves (for storing CB folders) I purchased my total was only $133. They also have free shipping on orders over $75. Anything less than that is a flat $6.95. It's definately worth it to check it out! I know, I am such an enabler! LOL Happy Stampin! God Bless!

Some questions please? I purchased the Cuttlebug Friday from Joanns on clearance for $44. It came with one die cut and four small EF's all of them look like postage stamps about 2x2 inches in size.

Was this a good buy?
Are ther different size Cuttlebug "machines"?
My plates are about 4" wide by 6" long
Are the EF large enough to make backgrounds on cards - like the swiss dots or do you need to run it through more than once?

TIA, Rebecca

Yes, that's in the "good deal" range. Congratulations on your Cuttlebug!

I don't use the 2x2 embossing folders much--but some people do beautiful things with them. The A2 size will emboss a full cardfront (or close to it).

Sorry, I missed one question: Are there different size Cuttlebug "machines"?

I haven't kept up with what's new, so the possibility exists that a "new" CB could appear sometime. Right now, there are just the Cuttlebug and the Cuttlekids (smaller).
