I think they can be bought from crazyscraps.com. http://store.crazyscraps.com/ne.html

What stack did you use to cut fun foam? A and B plates with Cuttlebug dies? What about cutting fun foam with a Quickutz die?

I believe those are the dies and folders that won't come out until January 2008.
Crazyscraps has them only to pre-order.

Default cutting foam

I haven't had any brand die that wouldn't cut foam yet. You just cut the foam the same way you would with whatever you would use for the type of die. Like i said in an earlier post, if you find you don't get a good cut, add a piece of chipboard to the stack to make it a little thicker. Quickutz will cut fun foam also (quickutz is the thinnest brand therefore you have to use one C and one B, and A plate instead of 2 B's and an A like cuttlebug, sizzlits. hope this helps!

"My" glossary of terms in the cuttlebug instruction manual:

steel rule dies: sizzix originals and bigs dies (the thick ones)
wafer thin dies: quickutz,bosskut dies

thank you! i was afraid it'd be too thick to go through the Bug and I would crack one of the plates in the process.

I have checked all the companies below and have not yet been able to find one who has a few of the folders I am interested in. Does anyone know where else I could look to find the following folders:

Perfect Paisley
Distressed Stripes
Swiss Dots
Floral Fantasy

I put them on hold at one site but don't have any idea when they'll be available. I found two others I wanted at the Busy Bee site. Woohoo!

Thanks for any input!

Online Vendors recommended by SCS users:
Busy Bee Scrapbooking
http://busybeescrapbooking.com

Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking
http://www.happyscrappinscrapbooking.com/

Paper Dreams Store
http://www.paperdreamsstore.com
(good selection, but the website does not notify you when things are out of stock)

Ellison
http://www.ellisondesign.com/
(a little higher priced, but have BISK and other somewhat unusual dies/plates)

Joann.com
http://www.joann.com
(often will not accept coupons on any die cut stuff, including Cuttlebug. does not always notify you that things are out of stock until much later.)

All That Scraps

You can't find these because they haven't been released yet. They'll be out in January--or maybe a bit sooner.

I am just new to stamping and this Cuttle bug has sparked interest. So this cuts out shapes? You use them on cards as well as scrap book pages? I am thinking its kind of like the chip board stuff but not so thick? Do you use card stock in it? Does the machine come with any templates to start with? Also do you feel you get your moneys worth with this toy?
Sorry for so many questions, everyone here seems to know about what this is and does but me.
I would love any information I can get this is quite an investment but if used alot then it would be great to have.

I got it mainly for the embossing to add texture to my cards but also bought a few shape dies to add design elements to my cards. I just got mine a couple of weeks and I would say it is worth it but not at the orignal price which, depending where you get it (Michael's or Joann's), is 79.99 - 89.99. Wait for a sale or use a 40% to 50% off coupon. It is very versatile and I'm sure you will use it alot. Just but Cuttlebug in the gallery search and you will see all the great things you can create with it.

Yes, the Cuttlebug will die cut and emboss. You can use them any way you like! You can cut cardstock, chipboard, medium weight coasters, felt, fun foam, fabric, foil, cork--the list is endless.

Mine did not come with any embossing folders or dies, but I have seen some boxes now that do. It does come with all the plates you need.

I paid $48 for mine (with a coupon) a year ago, and feel like I got an excellent deal. I have used it even more than I thought. If it breaks, I'll buy another Cuttlebug, and *still* feel that I have gotten my money's worth.

Cuttlekids is the new child's version of Cuttlebug. It apparently has some safety features that keep the blades on the dies from actually being accessible to small fingers.

The Cuttlekids dies will work in a Bug, but the Bug dies will not work in a Cuttlekids.

I have not yet tried chipboard in my Cuttlebug. But it easily cuts a Cheerios or Kleenex box. You can glue a small piece of designer paper to the cardboard before you cut.

Default It depends on where you buy it

I bought my Cuttlebug for $ 59.99 and it came with a pack of 2x2 dies. I bought the bug at crazyscraps.com and they ship for free only within the US on any order over $ 50.00. I had to pay over $ 20.oo for shipping because I am APO (which is a US address). Anyway, If you buy it at Joann.com you get free shipping if you are signed up for their free shippping club. I don't think you get free dies with it though. If you are interested in buying Alphabet dies for the bug I would suggest you buy them on Ebay. I bought my Fancy Pants Alphabet dies there and I only paid $ 25.00 plus $4.90 shipping which was way less than what I saw on other websites. I believe the regular price for the Alphabet dies is $ 59.99 sometimes more. Is the Cuttlebug worth the money? I would absolutely say yes. If you look at it that you pay $ 5-10.00 for chipboard letters and most of the time you won't even get enough to get all the letter for a name. The embossing folders make the possibilities endless and you can see many inspirations here on SCS.

Hope this info is helpful

Hi,

there's a video on this site, http://scraptime.ca/blogpage/?p=156, that you can watch to see what the cuttlebug does and how it works. It's a very good demo. It shows exactly what it's like. The cuttlebug makes things look really good fast! and it's so easy to use! Enjoy!

Default Overlay Embossing Shapes with Cuttlebug

I posted a few days ago about a great card where we put large circle cutouts over the card and then embossed it.... and hadn't yet uploaded the card... so here it is:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=91627

And while you're there, leave a comment or two... or visit my gallery...

Keep on having fun everyone!

Smile Some great CB embossing ideas

Just thought I'd share (and dear moderator, is this where I should be posting these CB ideas??)

Look at this card- the person CB embossed on what looks like vellum:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/706037

How about this beauty? She brayer inked over the CB embossed paper!
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/678027

These have such depth-
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/614733
and
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/630117
and
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/483180

This one says it's done on Foil Tag (huh? gotta learn that one next!)
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...01806?cat=7279

So... as you do your Cuttlebug creations and post them in your galleries... please put "Cuttlebug" and perhaps "emboss" in your keywords... so we can search and share!

Happy stamping, embossing, creating, and being happy!

Am thinking about asking my DH for a cuttlebug for Christmas. I mainly want it to emboss my backgrounds and was wondering if anyone knows if I can use a M's 50% off coupon to buy one in Canada? Can I find the background embossing folders there too? How much do the system and folders cost? Any info would be appreciated!

Smile Embossed and Sanded Foil in the Cuttlebug!

I was wondering how Doodledop foil red in the indents and white (or silver) for the letters words on her "It's a Guy Thing" that I referred to a post ago... http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...01806?cat=7279

And now I'm so happy to know how... Here's what Doodledop PM'd me:
"Hi, You were wondering how I made the words white on the "It's a Guy Thing" card. Actually, they are silver. I used a sanding block on them while the foil was still situated on the bottom half of the CB embossing folder." So I guess she started with red foil.

Next question to ask her is how thick was the foil, I've seen both at the store... Anyone have an opinion on thickness of foil?

Happy Creating!

I'd love to know also! BTW..when you say that you've seen the foil at the store, was it a craft store? I'd be interested in doing this technique myself!

I love my bug and would replace it if it broke. I am afraid to use Fiskars texture plates on mine, since I read on here that someone broke two using them. I don't own the texture plates, anyways. I love embossing and really want to get a set of diecut letters for it for scrapbooking titles. I can't wait until I'm not outbid over my limit on eBay for a set.

Yes, you definitely can! I used the 50% off coupon (labour day week end) to get mine. Regular price $109.99, so the coupon really made it easy to buy. I've seen the CB at Canadian Walmarts for about $68.00. You can find embossing folders at M's, but they only have 4 or 5 designs for card size folders I used my other 50% off coupon, the next day, for a 'Divine Swirls' folder. From what I've read here, it is one of the most versatile folders; bg for wedding, classic b-day, anniversary, sympathy. I like my bug so much, sometimes, I just put scrap paper through just to see the embossing effect!

Hope this helps!

I just purchased from Paper dreams - I have purchased from them in the past and have had great service from them on cuttlebug items - all their pre-orders are on sale and they also have the cuttlebug storage binders and inserts - Their shipping is very reasonable and they match any online companies price
Please take a look at this site - They have all the new stuff coming out on pre order-
BTW I called them about the binder and inserts because I did not see them on their site - they apologized and realized they had not listed them yet on their website but told me that they would match the price of any company - They were very friendly and I think u would like this company if you are interested in buying any of the new products
here is the link to their website

Perfect Paisley
Distressed Stripes
Swiss Dots
Floral Fantasy

I put them on hold at one site but don't have any idea when they'll be available. I found two others I wanted at the Busy Bee site. Woohoo!

Thanks for any input!

(good selection, but the website does not notify you when things are out of stock)

(a little higher priced, but have BISK and other somewhat unusual dies/plates)

Joann.com

(often will not accept coupons on any die cut stuff, including Cuttlebug. does not always notify you that things are out of stock until much later.)

I found all of them on Paperdreams website - and they list when they will become available and will match competitor prices and their shipping is very reasonable unlike some of the sites that have 24.00 shipping just too high for me - Hope this helps

I hate the bidding thing...I have dial up so I use the "buy it now" on ebay. I have bought 2 sets of alphas & not paid over $27.00 including shipping for either one.

I haven't found any with buy it now that I wanted yet. Not looked much, since I have to behave. I have dial-up, but it seems to be quicker than my mom's DSL!! I'm at 50.6 right now and haven't been disconnected at all. Sometimes I doze off at night with it online and still have to disconnect when I wake up. Not bad for $13 per month!!

Checked out that site mentioned a few posts ago and saw they have good prices and you can preorder for some of the new items. Looks like a good place to shop. Just can't shop right now.

I just bought the QuicKutz Nesting Flowers Cookie Cutter Dies to use with my Cuttlebug. I had read somewhere on here the recipe for using this set with the Cuttlebug, but didn't write it down. Does anyone happen to know which cutting board/mats to use with these?

Thanks!

Hi,
Use the A spacer block and the quickutz sticky mats in between the 2 B plates. There's a video showing you how to do it at http://scraptime.ca/blogpage/?p=159.

Enjoy!

On two different websites I read that the new cuttlebug embossing folders will be available - one said November- the other said January! I HOPE it's not till January!!! Does anyone here know when they will be coming out? I can't wait for the paisley print one! TIA

My guess is somewhere in between. I think it's probably a guarantee that they'll be out *by* January.

Anyone else's local Wal-Mart carrying CB? The other day when I asked at Joann's in Springfield if they had folders or dies she said no, but check Wal-mart. I walked away thinking "that lady must be crazy" - well to my surprise when I was home last weekend our local wal-mart had and entire end-cap of dies, folders, and the dies of alphas too. Crazy! They take out the big craft departments and then carry something like that.
