I use the CUTTLEBUG Extended plates. A couple of places you can get them:

Cuttlebug - Marco's Paper

Provo Craft - Cuttlebug Accessories

I have this and got it when it was first offered. I bought it because I loved the folders and the only way I could get them was get the machine as well - I already had a Cuttlebug. So now I have two!

The folders are now being offered by ProvoCraft and I believe even sold in stores. The one advantage was if you got autoship, they waived shipping on the future orders. I also had a coupon and got a discount so it wasn't a bad deal. The machine is pretty, if that matters, but it works like the old one and you know how reliable a Cuttlebug is!!

In short, Anna's beautiful folders can't be beat, they are just lovely, and they come with matching borders which are a plus. So, hope this helps, and good luck on your decision.

Tara, do you have a regular cuttlebug? You can use Anna Griffin's folders on it. Not sure if I would spend 129 even if it comes with folders - probably because I got such a great deal many years ago on my cuttlebug... only $39 w/free shipping and am happy with it.

It comes down to your personal choice.

I have this from the original offer also. I like it, but the handle folds into the machine and when you are turning it you have to put a little pressure toward the machine or it will fold into the machine. I also wanted the Anna Griffin folders, but I bought one at JoAnn's that was beautiful. They work great in the old version Cuttlebug or the new one. The gold color is beautiful. Good luck whatever you decide.

Is anyone else having a problem with the cuttlebug cutting through the score lines when using the pop n cuts inserts? I had an issue with the dress form pop n cut from SU, and now am having the same issue with the newMug & Hearts insert

I found out I had to make certain that my cardstock was heavier than most. SU cardstock seems to work just fine. Good luck.

I use a crease pad: Sizzix.com - Sizzix Accessory - Premium Crease Pad, Standard

I trimmed a tiny bit off - laid a B plate on it and used my craft knife.

Default UK only embossing folders

I am looking for a couple of embossing folders that I am only seeing on U. K. sites. Are there Cuttlebug items sold there that are not sold here?

I have found that if we don't have them now-we will get them soon. Can you be more specific? There are so many manufacturers now that make CB usable embossing folders.

I am having trouble with the fringe flower die set. When I use the suggested sandwich (ABC) I can't get it to go through the machine and anything else I've tried won't cut the fringe. Is anyone else having problems? Any suggestions?

Default Cuttelbug and Impression Obsession Dies

Hi! Has anyone worked with the Impression Obsession dies and the cuttlebug? I've just discovered these dies (still very new to card making) and love them but I've been sort of hearing they don't work as well with the Cuttlebug. Thanks!

Have not tried these dies however, have found that with many dies you have to find the right "sandwich". Perhaps you could call Cuttlebug for info.

I just received the beautiful Valentine die and had no problem. Starting at the bottom I used the A plate, C plate, then the die face up with card stock on top then a B plate. It cut beautifully. I've read that each CB is different in tension so you may have to include a shim like maybe another piece of card stock between plates or something thicker.

Ugghhh…I finally took my cuttlebug out of the box. It came with an A plate and two B plates. I stuck one of my Nestabilities in there and the things wasn't thick enough…what am I doing wrong?

Cuttlebug no longer comes with the "C" plate which is thicker than the "B" plates and is needed for dies such as Spellbinders.

Until you can buy a "C" plate try adding a few shims of card stock to the sandwich with the "B" plates . Start with 2 shims and keep adding until it cuts properly .

"C" plates are sold at Hobby Lobby, Joanns and I think at Michaels .

Hope this helps

Default Try Amazon for C plate

I bought my C plate on Amazon.com. I use it in my Big Kick also instead of turning the base plate flap continuously when interchanging between embossing folders and spellbinder and other then metal dies, I use the B plate for embossing folders and C plate for the thin metal dies like spellbinders.

In fact, a smart crafter I know told me to remove the extra flap from the Big Kick base plate as it screws off and then it will be out of the way. If you use the C plate, the flap is no longer needed. Hope this helps.

Think of B for emBossing and C for cutting. You probably need a C plate, but you can add cardboard shims for the time being. The plates aren't too expensive, especially if you use a coupon. Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you?

Has anyone tried to use the Sizzix magnetic platform on a cuttlebug? I love my Cuttlebug. I have the original version, the one that comes with all the plates you need. I can't get over why they don't just include the C plate with the new ones but I digress. I love the idea of having a magnet to hold the medals dies. Just wondering if anyone has figured out the sandwhich with it yet.

You will have to purchase a C plate. You are not doing anything wrong.

Isn't the Sizzix platform too big for the Cuttlebug?

I have the cuttlebug and the Sizix and the magnetic platform from Sizzix is too wide to fit through the Cuttlebug. When I use the Cuttlebug, I just tape the die to the paper on the outside edge to hold it in place, and the sandwich for dies is A, B, & C. (I just remember C is for cut) to replace one of the B plates.

Bummer! That makes sense; I didn't think about the width. I was just hoping. I know the other Sizzix adapters for embossing with spellbinders fit. Oh well!

I usually just sandwich it on the cuttlebug. I don't use tape or anything but a magnet sounded pretty neat!

Thanks for your response!

I always tape my die to the paper too. I use the blue masking tape that painters use, it's easy to take off, doesn't tear and each piece can be re used several times.

Default Magnetic Vent covers

I haven't tried this yet myself but I have read elsewhere online, can't remember where , that you could try using those magnetic vent covers you can buy at like Lowes, Home Depot or maybe even Wal-mart. They shouldn't be too wide for the cuttlebug, just not sure how well they'd work.

Wow. I love that little B stuff. I would like to hear more when they are available. Hope you will post then. I wonder if the blank die storing system is good. Is that available yet?

I use this for my dies: Magnetic Die Storage Case I got mine (and extra sheets) from Blitsy https://blitsy.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/5638/

Anyone know where to get a C plate for the original cuttlebug? Broke mine recently. Stores around here only have the C plate that fits the newer version.

According to CUTTLEBUG VS. CUTTLEBUG V2/? the same C plate should fit in both.

My bad. I think this was the wrong place to ask this.

If you can't find just the plate. You might be better off buying the whole machine. This one is $41.00 but it does come with free shipping (looks like only in USA though) and you'd have back ups of the other plates:

Provo Craft Cuttlebug Die Cutting Machine and Plates | eBay

Best of luck with finding what you need. It's too bad that the new plates are a different size. I have an old machine too & I've broken a C plate before. Fingers crossed I don't do it again!

Several years ago I recall reading a post by someone who went to Sheet Acrylic supplier and had plates cut for her die cutting machine .

She ( I think it was a woman) said it was much cheaper to have them cut than buy them in the stores.
If you have the broken plate so you can show them the thickness you need it may be an option.

Do a search either in your telephone book or one line for Sheet Acrylic suppliers.

You might also post another thread on the Tools and Products thread and ask if anyone has had plates cut for them at an acrylic supplier. Perhaps the person who posted this information will respond

Good Luck
