Default Cuttlebug Embossing Folders Cutting Through Cardstock

I have 3 or 4 Cuttlebug embossing folders that I use with my Big Shot. I've noticed on a couple of them that the embossing actually makes some cuts all the way through the cardstock. I am wondering if it's because it's too tight going through the machine. I am using the platform on the bottom, followed by a cutting plate, the embossing folder, and the other cutting plate on the top. I can't remember now if it's only a certain brand of cardstock that does it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you did to resolve it, if anything.

Thanks!
Carol

I did some embossing with scrap copier paper when I first got my Bug and it sometimes went through that. I've never had it go through cardstock, however. Good Luck!

Heavier weight CS seems to work much better with the EFs. I did a little comparison on paper types on my blog. Not very in depth but a few samples.

When I emboss using the bug and DCWV paper (its thinner than SU, but has a white core- sold at J's) I put a scrap piece of CS or even computer paper behind the one that I want to emboss. It helps it not to so deeply emboss that it tears the paper.

I have used my cuttlebug embossing folder with my sizzix orignal machine-can't remember what it is called. It works perfect. I don't have room to have another machine so I will stick with what I have for now. But I do like that all the dies and em folders work with mine.

I have had cut folders cut through a little, even using the Cuttlebug correctly.

I just put a piece of tape on the back where it has cut through, and that seems to fix it. You can't see the cut place when you apply it to the card.

I use that sandwich with my Big Shot and I've never had the EF cut through the paper but I am using CS and have also used medium weight scrapbook paper and Bazzill paper with no cut through.
