Smile CTMH Ink Pads. I Got Questions...

Anyone out there with new and old CTMH ink pads? Or any demos out there (I hope that's the right name) I just need to know if I can use the new reinkers with the old pads.

I have no idea if the formula is thicker and if the new pads are different than the old style. I'm trying to make a smart buy. I want to be 'armed with knowledge' before I call my contact. Haven't spoken to her in years... gonna be funny.

I do know when CTMH switched over to clear stamps they reformulated their ink to work with clear stamps.

do you know if it's the same felt pads? I'm just not sure how different the formula could be that I couldn't reink the old pads...

I'm pretty sure the actual felt of the pad is the same but they changed to the swivel style when they changed formulas. I'd say the formula is quite different. You could maybe try one pad and see if it works? If your old pads are totally dried up it might work but if not more than likely you'll end up with ink that separates and doesn't stamp very well.

I have put new reinkers on old CTMH pads, and it worked OK to me. But I am not a picky one. And a whole lot of the colors have changed. And I put black reinker from one company on a pad from a different company, and it worked fine for me. Depending on how old the pads are, I might be worried that you were just wasting reinker, and the pad will fray and such upon use?

I got an answer from a consultant who called up the office to confirm for sure their thoughts... This is what they said: "We wouldn’t advise you to use the current re-inkers on the older style ink pads, even if they are the same color. We have a different formula for the inks that we now use, and they won’t work correctly with the ink that was in the previous ink pads."

So, now on to trying new brands... who knows I might end up w/ CTMH again
