ok, i realize i am the last person on the planet to own this tool, but i needed a really good hole punch and su had this on sale. it took me forever and a you tube video to figure out how the heck you punch with it....when i figured that out i thought, awesome i will set some eyelets. i cannot imagine what i am doing wrong. no matter the combination the front of the eyelets look like the back squished thru. any suggestions?

Lori, the only suggestion I have is you might be squeezing too hard. It is a powerful tool, and I had the same problem when I first started using mine.

Experiment on some scrap cardstock and try lessening the pressure when you squeeze it together. It doesn't take much to set the eyelet.

I'd say the same as Bugga - really light pressure is enough to set the eyelet. If you find it's not quite set, you can always reseat it and give another tiny squeeze so go waaay lighter than you think you need to start off with.

If you experiment on scrap, make sure it's the sort of weight cardstock you'd be using for real - thinner paper will make your task even harder!

i am expermenting and expermenting. i am using kraft paper at 110 pounds. i am trying all the different sides of the cubes. sometimes i think i will just stick to knitting dishrags----if i knew how!

My cropadile came with a chart showing the settings for setting eyelets, grommets, etc. I would have to dig it out, but it might have actually been on the packaging itself. You could probably find the same info at their website. I have the cropadile and the big bite and love both tools.

I just got a cropadile - came late to the eyelet bandwagon. I have found that I do need to squeeze gently, but I am finding the recommended settings don't work as well for me. When I set a 3/16 eyelet with the recommended A-1 setting, no matter how gently, it splits and smooshed the back. For grins I tried A-4 and it looked much better. I just got some 1/8 eyelets and the same thing - C-3 smooched and split, but C-2 was much better (although not perfect). Am I the only one who gets better results with non-standard setting? I need to write down what has worked for me and tape them to the handle.
