Hi all! I am seriously considering buying a crop-a-dile. I have one question though, regarding the sizes of the eyelets. Do they have to be 'special' eyelets that are only made for the crop-a-dile or can regular eyelets from Michael's and Hobby Lobby ie: Making Memories brand work? I am in South Texas and we have NO stamping stores the closest thing to a stamping store is Mike's and HL. Thanks! Erica

It will work with anykind of eyelets. Some take less pressure when squeezing than others is the only difference I've found. Doodlebug or SU eyelets are easiest to set...IMHO.
Yup all kinds of eyelets - I'm finally using up my MM eyelets now that I have the COD - they are so difficult to set w/ other setters but w/ the COD it's a piece of cake!!
I love my Silent Setter by Provo Craft. It is a little pricey, but not too bad if you use a coupon. It is easy to use and you are not limited to where you put the eyelet. I can put it in the center of a 12x12 paper if I want. That was the biggest draw back on the crop-a-dile when I looked at them.
Good Luck
Thanks all for the info! I was thinking of ordering one on ebay and then I went to Hobby Lobby and they had them for 24.99 and well....I had to and bought it!! =) Thanks for all the info!
okay...so i tried to use mine last night and had a bit of a glitch with it! When I was getting ready to set the eyelet. Once I had the paper ready to go I placed the eyelet (as per the directions) and then pressed down. My eyelet ended up going into the upper part of the setter. I tried twice and the same thing happened...could I have gotten a dud? Or am I doing this all wrong???
Thanks!
Check the directions again and be sure you have the right setting on both rotating squares for the eyelet size you are using. Also, be sure to "click" them down firmly after you rotate them. When I first got mine, I turned the squares and didn't press them down and it didn't work well at all.
And, are you putting the little cylinder thing into the hole of the eyelet on the smooth top/right side of the eyelet?
There is a short video demo on the Crop a Dile which might help:
Hey there! Thanks for the fyi...duh!!! Let me check the video out tonight and I'll give you the ay or nay! Good to know I wasn't the only one with a problem using!
Thanks,Erica:mrgreen:

I got one for Christmas from my fantastic daughter (yahoo Briana) and had some trouble using it to begin with. But when I actually LOOKED at it, watched the video, looked at the instructions, made sure I had things facing the right way, I love it now. I set eyelets with it this weekend and it all worked out fantastic. And none of them were SU eyelets. Punches like a dream through thicker papers, cardstock, cardboard. Its a bit big for my hand but all in all I really like mine. Mary
I need to stop reading this thread! :P I love my Silent Setter as I have a glass table top. BUT, I have the cutest darn eyelets that look like the heads of screws that would be perfect for a father's day card. I couldn't use my SS on them. It sounds like the Crop-a-Dile is the way to go.
