It's OFFICIAL.
The Imagine and the Cake have been discontinued.

HERE is the link to the announcement.

The announcement seems a little vague to me. "the current model", "we cannot comment on future products at this time"

Makes me wonder.

Maybe they will come out with a new incarnation of the Imagine and Cake. From what it looks like, the original Cake was pretty much a Create. They need to come up with something....cause right now, they got nothin! I don't think they are still manufacturing the Original, Create or Expression. And the Imagine got them into a whole heap of trouble. So what does that leave? Just the Expression 2 and the Mini.
I hope they get it all worked out, because there are alot of crafters that prefer a cartridge based system. And I don't think the Mini is selling very well either.

Actually, the Original Cricut Cake machine is most similar to an Expression. I have one and you can actually use the E mats if you ever wanted to cut paper with it. Also, Nathan's letter indicates that they are only discontinuing the Imagine and the Cake machines. ALL other machines are still being manufactured. That includes the Original, Create, Expression, E2 and the Mini machine.

PC is under new management and IMO trying very hard to satisfy customer needs. I think unfortunately for them they bought into a lot of unsolvable issues. I have a mini machine and had issues getting it to cut with my Gypsy. I have to say though that PC forum moderator on the Cricut site reached out to me and called me at home to help me work through getting my issue corrected. They were very friendly and helpful and did resolve the problem.

Well, that's good news if all those other machines are still currently being manufactured. I don't see any of them on brick and mortar store shelves anymore, and I guess I assumed all of the online offerings were just trying to clear out inventory. So YAY! The whole Cricut line is still alive and well ( well, except for Cake and Imagine).
I'd like to get a couple back-up machines - - - I have so many carts now that I'd like to know that I have many many good years left to use them, and it seems like the machines break before the carts do.

The Cake Mini is the one that is the same machine as the Create. It's just missing the center roller, and all of the parts are "protected/food safe." I have been tempted to remove all of the food safe parts (temporarily) and replace them with regular Cricut parts so that I can bring it to crops. It would be a lot easier than lugging my E. I would only be cutting paper, after all, not toxic waste. I could use it as a Cake machine afterwards.

Hi ladies!
I have been having trouble with my Cricut Expression I. It won't cut all the way through the paper sometimes. It has done this ever since I got it. Sometimes it works very well but when I cut intricate designs it doesn't. I was using the Winter Lace cartridge last night. I cut snowflakes at 2 1/4". I trying slowing the speed down from high to low. I also put the pressure on high. And yes, I do use the multi cut button.
What am I doing wrong?

What kind of paper are you using, and what are your settings? Have you changed your blade recently, and is your mat sticky?

Yes, you need to have the blade set at 5 or 6 for SU cardstock. It's very heavy.

My Cricut is yellowed and discolored. My Big Kick is also yellowing. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion on how to clean them? Thank you.

Is there a smoker in the house? I would think a diluted Bleach mixture, some White Vinegar or a Magic eraser(made by Mr. Clean I think) may help??
Just had a thought , I wonder if a strong rubbing alcohol would work since it will remove certain things??
Let us know if you find something that works.

Hi!
I have had this happen to my Serger, the plastic parts have yellowed the metal parts are fine. My serger is close to 20 years old, so I'm not surprised that it has aged. I am curious is it's cleanable though, although my serger sews fine it looks weird, LOL

Hi ladies! Ok don't laugh, promise I don't have a cricut everytime I go to buy one, I rationalize something I need more. BUT, I'm finally going to be nice to myself and get one, wooohooo!
So I want to find an expression or E2 (?) And I'm hoping to find one at a decent price on black Friday. I've been searching but can't find any great deals like years passed. Has anyone heard of anywhere good?
I love all the info I have learned from you guys on this MB. I can't wait to get my hands on one (finally ) Thanks Deanne

cricutdirect.com has great sales. I bought my Pink Expression from them and have been very pleased. Right now it is average prices, but maybe they will have another good sale.
taymeag2010 on ebay seams to be a good reliable seller too.

The prices at Hallmark Scrapbook (Hallmark Scrapbook - The ultimate in Cricut, Sizzix and other diecut systems) are very good too. That's where I got my E a few years ago at a very good price and free shipping.

I got my second one at Cricutmachine.com last year just before black friday. I got a great deal on it. I am hoping they have a good sale again because I am looking for one for my best friend. Lately their prices have not been as good as they have been in the past, but when I did order from them I had good luck.

That is a great deal!! Is it a Black Friday sale?
The one I got a few weeks ago is the Pink Expression not the 2. But was only $139.99 without cartridges, but I didn't need them.

Yes! A black Friday aad!! I'm so excited, but a little scared. I've been reading some reviews on the CE2 and there are an aweful lot of unfavorable ones out there! I'm anticipating all these problems already...

I completely understand because I felt the same way. I ended up finding a to good to pass up deal for a Pink Expression and have been very pleased with it! I'm glad now I went that route and figured I would let the E2 get the quirks worked out a little before I go that route.

Hi! I have not read the whole board so I hope I am not repeating a question. I cant decide on whether I should get a Cricut Expression or a Cricut Expression 2. I heard there are some problems with the 2. Are there problems with the original? Does the 2 do so much more that it is worth the risk? Thanks for your help!

I originally deleted this from my email, however I received an add in my inbox that I thought I would mention.

At Cricut.com today only (ends at midnight) regular Cricut Expression is $99
The E2 is $199 and the Pink Regular Expression is also $199.

Hope this helps for those of you who have one of the machines on your wish list.

Blessings,
Valerie

BTW...I have both the regular and the E2. Although the E2 is what is currently set out for the last 2 years. I really miss the simplicity of the Regular one. My husband REALLY sacrificed to get me the E2 the day it was release on HSN and I do not want to hurt his feelings. I do not use it enough to ALWAYS REMEMBER what all the ICONS are on the screen so I spend a great deal of time always looking up the icons glossary. I do find that because of this frustration, I do use my gypsy much more.

I love my Pink Expression and happy I chose that route over the 2 version, but at the same time, If I would have gotten the 2 I would have been able to purchase some of the cute Imagine Carts .They have some adorable patterns I love!

I did buy the $99 E yesterday that was a black friday week deal. They are reconditioned machines. But from everything I've read, people have had generally good experience with the reconditioned machines. They already have the bugs worked out.
So a reconditioned E2 might turn out to be a really good purchase.

Yay!! So excited for you!! A friend of mine ordered her Big Shot from their website and then they told her when she could pick it up at her local store. So easy.
I haven't had my new Pink Expression for a month yet, but have really been having a blast!!
Warning though= don't be so anxious to cut something that you do not prepare your mat enough! I put a piece of card stock on mine and I think I only removed it twice and was so excited "I have to cut something and try it out!!" O boy!! I reeeaaallllyyy did a dumb thing...I didn't want to "waste" a good piece of paper so I put a piece paper that was my least favorite...select , cut ...and o my!! I didn't think I was ever going to get that ugly piece of paper off my mat!!!! The fact that it was thin junky scrapbook paper just made it a night mare!...I still had to prep my mat a little after that still. I was thinking it was like a giant glue board you could catch a mouse on! lol
Happy Cricuting!

Oh this is too funny!!! So cute to describe as a giant glue board. I can so relate to this story!

Sew Machine! Congrats on your purchase. Personally I think I would feel comfortable and prefer a refurbished model when it comes to Cricut. They have been put through all the test individually and pass. I do not think the ones off the assembly line are as closely inspected.

DCtalkTexas...OMG! You are right down the road! I do not have any crafty friends so I would love to get together and meet.

Blessings.

I saw on your blog you have the Folk Art cartridge from Michaels and was trying to find it online but for some reason I couldn't find a listing for it. Do you know if it is only available in store? I live and hour away from their store and who knows when I will get there. I will look again online .
Thanks

Lazorkay...WOW! You have a LONG daily commute! Traffic and construction is so HORRIBLE right now! If there was a way to craft while you are stuck in traffic....hhmmm....that would be great!

I'll bet they would make it illegal though...RATS!

Blessings,
Valerie
