Thanks Vivace. It must have been too early in the morning with not enough coffee. I will check it out. I have tried a layout and saved it. I should cut it but don't want to waste the paper...

I know that my Cm consultant here in the States has them for sale. She said CM contracted with provocraft to make some exclusive ones for them. She thought they would do more for them also. HOpe this helps.

Yes I have used it. It is different but I like that I can use regular Cricut cartridges with it too. I did make some great Thank-you cards with it. I am so busy I had to mail them before I took pictures of them. I will try to upload a picture of one card I did make a card with it.
I realize most card makers here on SC love to make their own images by stamping, or die-cutting. I love that too. The Imagine just adds another dimension to card making and scrap-booking. I feel I will get the most use out of it for scrap-booking.
I am still learning and I am still starting my cartridge collection.
The hardest thing for me about my Imagine was learning to calibrate it so it cut the images printed just right. I wore out my first cricut imagine mat learning to calibrate. I simply went out and got some new Imagine cutting mats, and it's working fine! I do love it! Little does DH know that I will always be collecting cartridges now!! He thinks I have enough. I have so few because I'm new at it! He just doesn't get it! LOL! He will though. I am just glad he appreciates the work I do with cards and scrap books. That he got me the Imagine was very thoughtful indeed!

Default Michael's Cricut cartridges 9.99

They are only offering what they have left in stock at each store from 2007 to 2009 regular Cricut cartridges. Each store has different things. They did not bring in any extra cartridges for this sale. They are just getting rid of their older stock cartridges at this price. I went as soon as our Michaels' opened and they were out of stock on almost everything. I got today Paisley and Pagoda--not ones I would typically get, but they did have some pretty flowers, and some cute images and for this price, so I did get them. These were the only two our Michael's store had. This is not the sale we would wish it to be, but a good price non the less for what they have.

Default Having Problems Linking Cartridges to Gypsy?

I posted this on the Cricut Gypsy forum, but I wanted to share it here as well. It's hard to believe this works, but it does! I tried it with the George cartridge too, and it worked again.

I just spoke with a very helpful young lady at PC who helped me link my Walk In My Garden cartridge, after I had tried everything I could think of and read about for over an hour. I told her that I would share the info.

While the status bar is progressing (if you can get it to that point), run your stylus along the bar from left to right. You have to keep doing it until you get the message that you've successfully linked the cartridge. I used the stylus and then my finger, because I didn't want to scratch up the screen. It worked! I asked her why that worked, but she didn't know. I asked my husband, who is a computer engineer, and he said that it could be that the Gypsy was looking for some kind of input, and running my stylus/finger across the screen did the trick. Weird, huh?

I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, but it's certainly worth a try. Good luck, and please post to let me know if it works or not

These are sold through CM consultants only. I don't know if it is just US consultants though. The other one is called cheerful seasons. I love the font on Reminisce. I used it with Design Studio to weld the letters for the title on thispage.

I completely forgot about this sale. I have the Paisley cartridge. It has really cute stuff on it but mostly a girly type cartridge.

Try www.scrappingtable.com. I purchased mine from her during the summer and she had the best rate at the time although all of the prices were fairly close to each other. She is still having her New Year's Sale. Even though the prices are somewhat close to each other, her website has wonderful information and she has free theme sets, free fonts, free dingbats and free templates that you can have for free if you purchased your SCAL from her.

Here's an example of what you get with just one of her templates - "Love's Little Surprises" -
"Love's Little Surprises" consists of 15 original Sure Cuts A Lot 2 & Cricut-tested templates including the following:

Candy Carton
Cookie Box
Heart Cupcake Wrap
Heart Handle Bag
Heart Latch Gift Card Box
Heart Latch Square Box
Heart Tea Light Holder
Rounded Flap Sack
Scalloped Cupcake Wrap
Straight Flap Sack
Valentine Basket 3
Valentine Basket 5
Valentine Basket 7
Valentine Envelope 1
Valentine Envelope 2

AND she's available to answer any questions that you may have, even beyond SCAL. Example - I had been told by Provocraft that I couldn't use Design Studio with my netbook. I sent her a note asking about SCAL and the netbook. She sent me a very detailed response letting me know that not only will SCAL work, so will DS, and how to make it happen.
Just LOVE the customer service, and all of the extras!!!

Then when you're ready to learn more about using it, Cara Miller thru My Creative Classroom offers an online class on it. Part 2 starts tomorrow 1/10/11. But she is repeating Part 1 in a few weeks I believe.

Hope this helps.

If you use that software before your warrenty is up it will void your warrenty. Cricut customer service told me this information.

Only if you TELL them you've used it. They can't tell by looking at or using the machine if you use SCAL.

It's TOTALLY worth it.

If you can wait until Saturday, I will tell you where to get a good deal.

I highly recommend the program. I have been using it for more than a year and wonder how I did without it. I love it!! And it is on your computer, just controls the cricut, just like the Design Studio, which is by PC.

Joann's will let you use coupons on Cricut accessories such as blades, mats. This month all Cricut accessories are on sale so you can't also use a coupon.

Really! I wish I knew that before I bought Cricut mats at Michaels for regular price. Great to know though, as I want at least two more sets.

Thanks Gale. I got the idea from a lady's blog but could not figure out how to make them. I have something similar (?sp) that I bought at CK convention and they were $5 for 1 12x12 page. So I kept at trying to figure it out. The left side is a little different than the right but I will be happy with it. The sand, water and sky are just torn 12x12 pieces of cardstock.

I'm happy with how it came out. Now onto making more pages.

I am looking at getting MTC, now I understand that it works with your computer to your Cricut. Almost like DS. I have DS, full version. How do you cut with MTC, if you don't have the right cartridge? Like with DS, you need the cartridge that the user used to design it with. GWIM? Or, you just don't need any carts...and that sounds too good to be true! Do you need both to run your Cricut?

I am looking for places that have shapes, like lables, fancy edging, scallops and such.

Also, looking for stamps to edge these and or shapes that stamp into the cut outs.

Thank You!

With MTC you only need one cartridge (any one) to have in your machine while you cut. Other than that you don't need anything other than a graphic or svg file. You can import any svg file (lots of them on the net, including free ones) or you can create a file with any graphic or pdf image. This blog has a series of tutorials about MTC: www.underacherrytree.com (click on the tab at the top that says beginner's tutorials).

I think I have all the tools for this. My dh bought me the teal expression for Christmas and I just bought myself the jukebox at michaels for 9.99, plus I have the design studio. However, I do not own a gypsy. Do you think this will matter not having the gypsy?
was the michaels jukebox a real special deal or something? I'm wondering if I really need one or not. It will allow me to cut images from different cartridges (ones I have in the jukebox) on the same page right?

Using the jukebox allows you to use multiple cartridges without having to change them out. It is supposed to prevent you from having to hotswap (changing cartridges without turning your cricut off). I hotswap all the time and never have a problem.

I bought the jukebox at Michaels for 9.99 a couple weeks ago when they had the carts on sale for the same price.

A lot of the time just the washing process reactivates the glue on the mats and that is all you have to do. I haven't used the spray before, but if the washing process doesn't work I have used the Tombo Removable or Permanent liquid glue and have placed a small amount over the mat and it becomes nice and tacky again. It is another cheap and easy way. I also have a mat that I put a larger portion of glue on to make it very sticky. I use this mat for cutting fabric.

I just got a Cricut Expression for Christmas. LOVE it, but I'm having an issue cutting through cardstock. It's tearing and ripping which is starting to drive me nuts.

It's not just the intricate flowers that are causing this - I've had this happen on regular letters like the phrase "thank you"

I've tried multiple cuts, speeding it up, slowing it down, turning the blade up to 6, and it either A) doesn't cut through completely or B) rips the paper and makes the item useless.

I've used Bazzill and Papertrey cardstock. I also had a piece of PTI cardstock peel as I pulled it off the mat (and the mat has been used and I wouldn't have considered it as being sticky enough to do that.)

I don't think I've made enough cuts with it to need to replace the blade or the mat. What do you suggest?

I had many of the same issues when I first got my Cricut E last year, other than I have never tried to cut the PTI cs with it. I followed other's suggestions to put in a new blade and that eliminated the problem. Maybe the blades that ship with the Cricut are not the same quality as the ones you purchase? I know it doesn't make any sense, but try it and see. HTH!

You are using great quality cardstock, so that's likely not the problem. One thing you didn't mention: changing the pressure via the pressure wheel. I've had success with turning down both the speed and the pressure and then using multicut to cut twice. Your description, though, almost sounds like there could be a burr on the needle or the needle was dulled somehow. I would try a new needle. One final option is purchasing the deep needle housing (its blue). I love mine and I've had fewer issues with cardstock and paper since I got it. Might be worth a try.

What is your pressure set at? That can also play into the ripping problem, although cardstock usually works well with the pressure set at med or high. The other thing that I have tried is taking the blade out of the casing and using my finger nail to scrape off anything that might be stuck on the blade and causing it to tear. Other then that trying a new blade could also let you know if it is the blade or not. Good Luck & HTH.

I have a question about how long people have had their Cricut Expressions? Someone on a list said that most of them only last 3 years and you are lucky if it lasts 4 years. Anyone have one that has lasted longer?

The expression has only been out 3 or 4 yrs I think. I got my baby bug in Dec. 2006 and the expression wasn't out then. I have an expression now but my baby bug still works fine. I think it would depend on how much it is used.

I got my Expression in Feb. 2008 so it is almost 3 years old. They had been out awhile then, but I don't know how long. I don't use it everyday, sometimes it sits idle for a month at a time, so I'm hoping it will last. Although, sometimes it does seem like it's noisier when it cuts than it used to be, and occaisionally the carriage doesn't go back to where it belongs when I unload the mat and I have to push it back with my finger.
