Default Cricut expressions vs exp 2

So I am trying to decide whether to take the plunge and get a cricut. I at first figured for the extra just to get the exp 2 because of the touch screen. Then I read a few reviews - someone who never had one loved theirs, but the 2 others had upgraded and complained about the hard to read screen, large amnts of paper wasted and some redundant button pressing when doing settings. So, has anyone upgraded? Can you tell me which you like better? I'm kinda on the fence as I like my Cuttlebug and have lots of dies for it...thanks!

Head over to the cricut.com message board. There are separate forums for both machines. Read, read, read. You will probably begin to see which machine has less problems. I believe the Expression is generally regarded as much more stable then the E2. And alot of the complaints about the E2 is due to the touch screen.
I bought a $99 refurbished Expression from cricut.com and it came with a one year warrenty and some carts. So far it has been a workhorse. I think they still have that offer going on.

I have the original E. To be fair my DH actually tore apart my E, reconfigured it and now it works like a high end die cutter. Before he went in and rebuilt my E she worked like a great workhorse. She just works better now.

I do have an Imagine. Right now my Imagine is down. I need to fix something on her. It's been down awhile because there are some things going on where loved ones need us right now. Die cutting is on the back burner. The Imagine is no longer made. I bring up the Imagine because I absolutely loved the touch screen. That touch screen was the absolute for me! Best Cricut invention ever. I go back and cut with my E and glare at it because I missed my touch screen, lol. I didn't really glare at my Cricut.

I am thinking of getting an E2 just for the touch screen. I have seen the cuts with the E2 and they are better than the E. PC changed some of the algorithms on the E2 for more precise cutting. My E cuts precise too. I can get 1/4" cuts to perfection. Again she has been rebuilt too for that purpose.

This is the big problem with the E2. The machine needs updated. Personally for me I never had trouble updating any of my machines through PC. I always hold my breath when I do need to update. PC is notorious for destroying machines through updates. In the last few months, since Autumn, it has gotten better. They have a new IT team apparently. This is the only reason why I am hesitant to buy an E2 because PC is famed for bad updates that break our machines.

Besides the updating thing I think the E2 is a good machine. My friends that have an E2 love their machines. The E is also a good machine. I think the E can take being "beat up" a little more than the E2 because it has less computer components in it.

But Gale,

Provo Craft says the fixes are coming soon for the Gypsy. Why shouldn't we believe them?

I may actually be talking myself out of one...I see people posting on the cricut about issues with the machines freezing among other things. I have a cuttlebug (good old fashion muscle power!) and have a lot of dies for it, and am thinking that once you get the machine, then you gotta fork out lots more for accessories and cartridges...so I think for now I'll just pass, but thanks for the opinions, and maybe someday I'll splurge
