OK, so I've been playin'...(nothing to upload yet, just gettin' the feel of it)...anyway, I tried the end cap things and, I'm just not gettin' it!!! I'm gonna be wasting some paper! The flower for instance, I can get the left side but when the right side cuts, it's the left side again!! What am I doing wrong?
I had the same problem, because I was clicking shift instead of SHADOW to get the right hand tag end. Try that.
I tried cutting out letters on a piece of paper I embossed with the bubble folder from cuttlebug. Didn't work well--tore the paper. I moved the blade to 6 and had speed and pressure at 4. Anyone successful cutting embossed paper?

SHADOW is for the "background". You DO have to push "shift" to get the right side. I figured out that will show but the picture will be the "right flower endcap"

Hopefully this is the place for this since it's Cricut Chatter...
Sunday my DH and I were at WalMart and he came up to me and told me to follow him. He brings me to the clearance section where there was a TON of Cricut stuff!!!! I got 4 cartridges from between 25$ and 35$. I got the Christmas one, the Disney character one, and a couple others that I can't think of. They had the tool set on sale for 9$ too. I would never have thought to look for those in the clearance section there.
We actually were at the one in Pinellas Park that's across the Gandy Bridge. Do you know which one I'm talking about?? They have a clearance section near the front/pet area.
Ack! I just made a purchase for the Expressions! I hope I do not get buyer's remorse! Can't wait til it comes!
I think you'll be pleased with your E-bug. I have the smaller one and I am happy with it. The deals on the expression are great right now. If my smaller one were older I might be tempted to buy the E-bug. Happy waiting. What do you plan to use it for?
Hi I am a newbie. I would like to know if all the cricut carts come with a keypad overlay? Also how much are the cricut expressions selling for? Thanks

Okay, I need to say something that should probably not be said on this thread!, Put away the Ebug for just a few minutes so you can figure out the scanner. I would like to see some of your creations!
Glad you are enjoing the Ebug. How do you like your accents carts? I want to get my hands on that one!
Hey girls!! I have been playing with my bug since yesterday. I will upload in a bit. I need to get my boy off to Kindergarten and the other 2 boys down for naps. I'm a bit under the weather today as well so we will see if I'm feeling okay when I get back.
I can't wait to get the ebug!! I still have to wait a couple of weeks. At least until my DH gets his business going and the patients coming in regularly. Shouldn't be too long of a wait.

Can't wait to see what you've done. I was thinking for my b-day I would get the E-bug, but I think I've come up with a few carts I want when they come out & the software, so I guess the e-bug has to wait. Maybe Christmas or next year. The way they're being sold at reduced prices all ready makes me think I can wait a little longer for a better price. I think I might be foreced to get one to get Accents!

I plan to use it for 3d projects, which I love to do. Probably the first thing I will make are those cute iris clippies! I've made some with die-cut chipboard before, but this will let me do mass quantities easily, I think!
I'm also planning to use it for more scrapbooking. I started as a scrapper but then moved on to cards, which gave me immediate gratification! Also, with scrapping, I'm too much of a perfectionist and often spent hours playing with photoshop to get my photo just so. I think that's why I stopped scrapping! Now, my mindset is to just do it and get them done. The E-bug (as you all call it, hee hee), should help me in that regard.

Sounds great do you have pictures to post of your clips? They sound cute.
Okay girls, I just purchased the Cricut Expressions machine (with the two cartridges and all) and got it in the mail just a couple of days ago. So today I was at a MOMS club social gathering where there are a lot of women who like to scrapbook. So I tell the girls that I broke down and bought this machine and how much I like it. Well...then two of them start telling me how much better the Wishblade by Xyron is and how you don't have to buy cartridges and you can use any font on your computer. They also went on about how they don't have to buy new mats because with the Wishblade you CAN use a spray tack to make it tacky again. UGH.
Now I'm thinking--Did I do someting foolish by spending a wad of cash on a machine without seeing what else was out there? Frankly, I thought that the Cricut was a one of a kind. It didn't even occur to me that there would be other machines--maybe better machines--out there. Can anyone tell me how much better the Cricut is than the rest of the "truly" custom cutting machines out there? I just need to feel like I've made the best investment, ya know?
Has anyone used the other machines? Can anyone state the pros and cons?
Woo Hoo!!! I knew you couldn't hold out for much longer! I think the PD cart might become your new favorite over Zooballoo. The truth hurts!
It very well may. I love those versatile carts. I can't wait to play, play, play!!!!! I can just see so many things done with the doll, animals, and that font. Of course .... I'm getting the Printing 101 and Jasmine, too ...... those don't hurt the deal.
Has anyone used the other machines? Can anyone state the pros and cons?
Bewildered,
Brenna
Okay I havent used the other machines, but they are both alot more expensive than the cricut. I have sprayed tacky on my mats to refresh them, but I have to be careful not to get it ont he edges and not to thick, some people say that voids the warranty, but I cant find anything to verify that. The carts are expensive if you buy them not on sale at Joanns or Michaels but there is always a sale somewhere and they are not that expensive. I've heard you can cut some shapes but I hav enot found shapes as nice as PC provides on their carts. You are kind of at PC mercy for cutting what they make but with the new software I am hoping they will be providing more computer cutting options with software in the future. For as much as I use my cricut I think it gives great bang for the buck. ENJOY your E-BUG!

I'd been struggling with the exact same thing. I was leaning towards the Wishblade or Craft Robo initially, because I liked the fact you could use any true type font with it or any clipart file. However, you do need to learn to use the software that these others come with, and from what I could find, there seems to be more of a learning curve with those than with the Cricut. It also seemed to be more steps to weld your words together than with a Cricut. Also you need a computer to use with the others and not with a Cricut.
The reason why I went with Cricut is I did not want to learn the software the others came with (even though I consider myself pretty computer savvy). I figured I'd use a system that was as easy as possible to use (otherwise I will probably not use it much), and while I'm still awaiting my Cricut to arrive, it seemed to be the easiest to use. Also I wanted something that wasn't going to have much trouble cutting through SU cardstock. I've read the others can only do that by passing through the cutter multiple times, whereas I've read (and hope) that the Cricut can cut SU cs with one pass.
Finally with the new Expressions, you can cut bigger stuff than the others. Not sure I really need to do that, but I like that I will have some flexibility if I do need to at some point.
In the end it comes down to personal preference, what you're actually intending to use the machine for, and what you can afford. I think that Cricut will be more expensive (given all the cartridges you will buy) overall than the others, but for me I figured I'd use it more, given ease of use and, well, it's just got a coolness factor the others don't have, lol!
