I personally don't like scrapbooking with this size.......because there aren't that many 8x8 papers out there (last time I checked my LSS) and it's a lot of wasted patterned paper when you cut an 8x8 from a 12x12 sheet of paper. I don't like all the scraps! 6x6 is ok becuase you can get 4 sheets from one 12x12 piece of paper. I don't like 8 1/2 x 11 for the same reason as the 8x8. And I also don't like creative memories scrapbooks. I don't like to crop on white backgrounds. All my pages are either patterned paper or color coordinated with the colors in the pictures I use. I don't like to see white backgrounds on every page. The only thing I buy from them are the shape cutter thingies. And I use them for making cards only. Like someone else said, I learned from 12x12 and felt I had to fill up the page but when I did 6x6 lo's I felt there wasn't enough room and I didn't want just one picture on a page. So I went back to 12x12. A lot of my pages started out pretty plain and then I started using more and more embellishments; eyelets, brads, fibers, buttons, etc. I love embellishments! I find that I really like decorating my pages. Some people really just want to focus on the pics and the journaling, so it's all just a matter of preference. Ok, I am rambling now but just wanted to share my experience with cropping.

I went with the 8.5 x 11 size. I figure I can use the scraps of decorative paper on my cards and I felt the 6X6 is too small and 12x12 to big. We will see how it goes. Now I just need to open it and get scrapping.

I love scrapbooking. I just don't have the time - or patience - to do much right now. I would have to organize my pictures first .... UGH!!!

I bought some matting and journaling papers from creative memories and I have been using them to journal the pictures and mat some. The I've been filing them together. It takes a lot of time, but i figure when its time to put it into layouts alot of the hard part is done. And if I never finish and the kids get the pictures they have my journaling to use. I just have almost 25 years of pictures and stuff to journal. & organize

Wow - great job, Robyn!!! I made a couple of layouts on Sat, but nothing since. I still need to put some stuff back in my room since it's been painted, and clean it up a bit before I have room on my table to scrap at home. I'm trying to get my ds Christmas book finished, so that I can move on! lol

Ok, I havn't made these pages recently, but have finally gotten around to uploading them. Here's most of the rest of the pages for the wedding album that I made for my SIL:

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...95789?cat=3592

That's only a link to one of them, I don't know how to do multiple links (I'm lucky to know how to do one, lol).

Does it make it harder to do a LO, and Is square shape better?
I need to start Scrapbooking seriously, and I am starting to think 8x8 would be the best size! Who do you get 8x8 albums from?
I'm not good at scrapping in 8 1/2 by 11, for some reason my brain seems to think in squares best, lol. I use post bound books because I go out of order a lot, too. Enjoy your new book!

I try to think of it as a card only 4 times bigger. I do card fronts all the time. I hope I can translate that into scrapbooks.

Cute cards Samm, I checked them out a few days ago but I have been too busy to get back here to post. I used my cricut a bit also to use Fab FInds on a card I made. I used the hinges like a tab. I've got a lot of Tags to make for a project I am working on for a girls camp. I've been way too busy and summer is going way too fast.

Ok you ladies have convinced me that I NEED a Cricut. Now -- what version to buy, and where? I didn't realize there was more than one kind available until recently.
TIA

Up until recently there was only one kind to buy. It would depend on how you would use the machine. The older version is more portable from what I hear. The new expression has a lot more features, but is not necessarily something you want to drag with you every time you go to a crop.

My hubby just bought me an Expressions from JKCrafts.com. It was $349, free cartridge in addition to the 2 that came w/it (I chose Opposites Attract). Shipping was about $10.

I should get it by Tuesday.

I've never ordered from them before, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I can't wait to play w/it! All of the chatter about the Cricuts on this site made me want one so badl!!

Right now he's saying I may need to wait until Christmas to open it!!! Meanie!!

Sometimes it's really hard to tell if he's joking...I'm hoping this is one of those times!

Thanks for the input about JK crafts. It makes the wait easier knowing that it's a good company.

Default My first cricut card

After reading all the posts on the fun I've been missing, bought my Cricut from QVC. Here is my first card. Baby Girl. Unfortately, haven't used it other than this, only because of no time to stamp Busy with work, school and homework. But I have purchased a lot of cartridges. Used the "zoo" on this card. I'm thinking in a few years when I get my teaching degree, I can make bulletin boards with it

Very cute card. As your life changes you will have more time to make things. Good luck with school.

Hey girls! I am going to work on some SB pages in a few minutes with my Cricut. I've just got to finish up my chores. I'm doing good though. I have done about 5 loads of laundry, made fresh bread, and taken the kids to the pool. Just need to make dinner now and feed the baby. Hmmmm, maybe I won't be sbing in a few minutes but more like a few hours!! Hope you are all having a great day!
