Cool look at that I am at the top! Well I have spent the day visiting a friend, next time when we have more time, I am going to take my cricut and show har about it, and help her make some layouts! I was organinzing my stamp room again, seems like that is all us crafters ever do, we organize more than we create!

Kathy I got the box, took lots out, but then put lots right back in. I am a little lost here though, where does it go next??

Default Ner Cricut owner in search of tips

Hi everyone,
I got sucked in to buying a Cricut two weeks ago at Michaels because they were on sale for $139. I used it that night at a crop event they had and I was impressed. I have 4 cartigdes and I've yet to bust out the machine and use it. I have been too busy, but that will soon change. What tips to you seasoned users have for a newbie? I'd like to get it right the first few times and not the tenth. Any bright ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks!
Melissa

I noticed someone was asking about cheap machines. I heard Mike's is going to be carring the original bug in new packaging with more stuff and if you can find a store that still has the original packaged ones they are still $139.
Can't wait to get to know you all.

Hello Melissa,...
Shouldn't you be saying LUCKED in!!! Anyways, the main thing alot of people do wrong is attaching the blade casing after they put the blade in. They seem to want to put it in the mount wrong. I think it is just pretty basic to use and if you have any problems there are usually people willing to answer your questions on this thread.
You will probably want to get some extra mats also. The Cricket FAQ sticky has some hints on it early in the thread that are basic helpful info. We try to post tips and hints there. It easy to find on the top of the forum tool thread.

I have those and they are so much fun. I haven't used the paisley yet. but I am looking forward to it. I'lld check out the flowers right a way. One of the dies in mine didn't cut all the way through, I exchanged it and it did the same thing, the rounded one with 3 flowers both sets. I had some shims with my Quikuts dies so I just shimmed it and it works fine.
I just love my Bugs

Hi Ladies,

For my b-day my hubby is getting me a cricut. He wants to know which one. Should I hold out for the new one to do bigger and better things with or will the current one work as well for us.
I do alot of scrappbooking, and cards. My daughter also is a director at a day care center and maybe she could use the new one for bulletin boards?

Please help me choose which one. If you didn't already have the current one would you hold out for the new one if price is not an issue?
Thanks MaryAnn

Well MaryAnn, You are going to love your cricut which ever you decide...
Now if price is not an issue Can't you get both . j/k
The portability of the smaller one is nice and adequate for most card and scrapbooking. The bigger one has some great features that your, daughter might find really useful. Maybe you should get the small one and a bunch of carts for your B-day and get your daughter the bigger one for her B-day( she'ld love you for it). Then you'ld have access to both, ....Just saying...... tough choice!

Welcome, MaryAnn

I just got the old one and I love it, I can't see myself needing the bigger one, I scrap 12 x 12 and this size is great for that, and just right forr card making! The only thing I can see needing the bigger one for would be to make bigger Tag, Bags, Boxes and more.

Hi girls! Any Cricuting going on today? I am going to be babysitting in a few minutes for the afternoon so I don't know if I will get anything done. I did make a quick page last night. I'll have to upload that one later.

Hi Robyn, I am going to cricut with FF & TBBM today, only because I am going shopping on Sat and I hope to get another cart or two, and I want to use the one's I have I buy more. There have been a lot of good sales in the last few months.
I am thinking everyone is just making room for the expression. Our M's sold out alot of their carts right away and they don't have many left except ones they didn't have on sale, but I don't see any empty spots. They had tons of WIMG & ZOO before the sale and they are not on display anymore and those weren't on sale. I don't know where they have moved them. They just seemed to fill up the space with the Martha stuff. I hope they get more cricut stuff back before June. I am wondering if they aren't going to carry it any more, but I don't know why that would be the case.

Cool Conni. Reorganizing is fun. I wish I had something different to do with my paper. No go for now, though.

We had a lss close down near by, and for being a member with unused classes, I had money left to spend, so I got one of those big paper raks, that has 30 diffrent shelves and each shelf holds about 50 sheets of 12 x 12! I am also re-organizing my scraps, one thing you get lots of with a cricut!, and waiting on my aunt to deliver some shelves for me to put up. I did get a card posted that I made for Steph, with a Bella, and I have lots of ideas when this re-organinzing is done

Hi ladies! No cricut time here all week. I have pet it a couple times, though, just so he knows he is still loved. I ended up having to meet with a client today. Between the driving and meeting time is was almost 6 hours, so my "domestic" day was shot. I already feel like I'm behind for the weekend (LOL!). I still need to finish my niece's lunch tin. Just need to finish embellishing it, so I should be able to finish this weekend.

Welcome to our new cricut owners. This is a fabulous machine, and I am sure you will love it. Be sure to search the gallery using "Cricut" for some awesome samples.

Love the latest cards and creations. I am also loving the new avatar pics. Way cool!

Hopefully I can check in later.

I just joined the ranks of addicted to my cricut I made a baby card using the airplane for a client and she absolutely loved it! I am having issues with getting clean cuts though.. unless it's a really smooth line design, I am not getting it cut all the way through, particularly on words, (so far just used New Arrivals and a couple tags off TBBM. )

Any hints on getting cleaner cuts? It's new and I've got it set on speed 5, pressure 5, blade depth 6.

Some of the new machines in the beginning had dull blades in them PC sent people new ones. You might want to try a new blade, then call PC

I know the people in this thread sometimes take their time opening boxes, but are you capable of waiting until next weekend, if you are we aren't enabling enough.
Heehee that's me! I have gotten better though. All those carts I bought I tore right into! LOL

I noticed someone was asking about cheap machines. I heard Mike's is going to be carring the original bug in new packaging with more stuff and if you can find a store that still has the original packaged ones they are still $139.
Can't wait to get to know you all.

Lisa
