They have the booklets on the website here:

If you go to Cricut.com and then go to the Infomation tab they have the Cartridge library. The Library shows the book that comes with the cartridge. It is great to see all of the options before you buy. I use the library to see if I really "need" the cartridge or not.

If you go to the cricut website and download the free version of cricut design studio you can explore every cartridge they have.

Maybe Etsy. I think you can sell it under the supplies policy.

I have the Pagoda cartridge and love it, but does anyone know where I can find the meaning of the kanji symbols? I would love to make a card for my nieces as they love anything oriental, but would like to know what the symbols mean.

Thanks for advice. I'm hoping to take it out of the box this weekend.

Maybe this will help.

Kanji characters

That Pagoda cartridge looks lovely. I still only have the ones that came with the machine. So many choices, it's hard to choose!

Custom Crops is having a sale on cartridges right now. Some really good prices and the Gypsy for $100, the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

superjen - thanks for the link on the pagoda cartridge. I made cards for my nieces (they just earned their 2nd black belt in Tae Kwon Do. They are both ATF and ***.) I used the Pagoda on the front and the kanji symbol for Celebrate on the inside. I didn't get pictures before I gave the cards away, but the girls really loved them.

Did you post your cards? I'd like to see.

I don't text (nor am I on Facebook, let's just say that I'm stubborn) so any potential reference to swearing was completely lost on me. Congratulations to your nieces, by the way, that is quite an accomplishment.

I did take mine out of the box yesterday. My sister babysat and when we got home from the mediocre movie, I invited her to stay to help me play with it. She's the one that gave it to me and is quite excited about it. I didn't use particularly heavy cardstock so was surprised I had to have the blade depth at 6 and pressure almost all the way up. And was disappointed when I tried to cut the Tanzania shape on the cover of the Destinations cartridge package that it wasn't as easy as I had hoped.

I think it would be nice enhancement for Provo Craft to the minimum recommended size of the detailed images that won't cut well at smaller sizes. They could just put it right there on the grid in the booklet.. That said, I have a nice Paris silhouette that I can slap on a card, time permitting.

Basically, I have reading to do. I have the user guide out and will try to read it while sitting on the couch with cartoon watching kids.

I have not posted yet. I gave the cards away before I could get a picture, but will whip up another card. I find when I have detailed cuts, it works best for me if I multicut using a fast speed but only a medium pressure. You might want to try that. I am still new to the cricut expression, so I have had to experiment alot. Have fun! specially with that great sister! My sister and I do not get a chance to get together alot, but when we do we really enjoy, and crafting time for us is specially nice!

Since I basically, took mine out of the box for the first time last night, you are ages ahead of me. I cut a "Paris", a Tanzania, an elephant a couple of Delicate Arches (one not quite fitting on the page but I can find a use for it) and a "woof." I did get two $10 cartridges at Michael's today. Now I have plenty of shapes, just need the time.

Thanks for the advice on detailed cuts. I do love the Internet, you can often find answers to questions if you care to look (and have the time).

Have a lovely evening, all.

Ps. No worries on the cards. I'm not a poster by nature so don't do it on my account. I was just asking in case you had.

I just got mine for x-mas and I updated and got the free ones
I have had my gypsy for a year, can I get the free carts or is it only for new purchases?

Also, can a 6x12 mat be used with the expression? I have the o-bug too and never tried it, but hosted a crop yesterday and a lady was attempting to use that mat with it, but it was sliding so I got out my o-bug for her.

I believe you can still get the download for the free cartridges. Just go to Cricut.com. No, you can't use the 6 x 12 mats with the Expression. They will slip and slide around.

That will probably depend on what works best for you. I have SCAL and a Gypsy. I actually got my Gypsy a little over a year ago and the SCAL program about 4 mos. ago for my b-day. I got the Gypsy so that I could design on the go. But since getting the SCAL program I am finding myself using that a lot more, mainly because I only have 5 Cricut cartridges. The screen on the gypsy is of course smaller then your computer screen, so if you aren't really wanting to design on the go and prefer a nice big work space then the DS would probably work best for you. Hope this helps.

Lov emy Gypsy..I have DS and SCAL but I only use SCAL AN dthe GYPSY now. I have old eyes and need reading glasses but I so prefer the gypsy and attaching it to the cricut to use all my carts over having to swap out carts while the DS cuts on the cricut. I used to have a JUke Box But then again only 6 carts or you have to buy several Juke boxes to chain together..Only up to 18... I have tons of carts and the Gypsy has been very handy both at home and on the go....I use windows and I know some apple users have issues with Gypsy being updated as soon for their operating system...purely a PC being to impatient to wait on a release until everything is ready... but I so love mine!

Yes you get the free carts...also mat selection is only 12x12 or 12 x 24 on the E bug so I wouldnt do it...I could see it shifting and being a problem...esp when you have a lot of images to cut....

anyone interested in purchasing an unopened cartirdge called " sampler" it has lots of items from many carts...I just need to sell it due to financial hardship. Asking $50 includes shipping in the US.

Can someone explain the Gypsy to me? Do you still have to buy carts and load them or do you load them for free? How do you get your current carts on it? I found one on sale today for $87 with 5 free downloads. So I want to know more about it before I buy it.

Has anyone seen the new Cricut Magazine? Is it worth the insanely high price? I imagine there are loads of great idea resources online but sometimes it's nice to have something to page through while watching TV with the kids.

I have one by another company (not scrapbook trends) which is called The Bug Magazine and I can say that IMO it is not worth the price. There's nothing in it that I can't find better online.

think of the gypsy as a portable storage devise for your cricut carts. yu still have to but the carts abd you can only link a cart to 1 gypsy so you cannot link your friends carts to your gypsy if they have linked it to one already. Also it is a portable design studio too letting you design with all of your carts. You plug it to your cricut and cut, no cart swapping! At that price it is a good deal and better that a jukebox. I got one for christmas, too it to a crop and fell in love with it! Be sure to dowload the update from the cricut site before the 31st to get the 5 free carts.

This is how it is for ALL magazines though. There's really no reason why anyone would need magazine subscriptions if you have access to the internet. Every cardmaking technique is out there somewhere. The one thing that I did like about the Bug Magazine is that at least the articles it has are a nice way to have all of the information in just a couple of pages. (Like cutting chipboard.) I subscribed for the full year (six issues). I'm hoping that the magazine evolves into something better. It seems like some magazine start out kind of small and then progressively get better... OR.. they start out with a bang and then fizzle. I like to take the "wait and see" approach with new things. (Thankfully I waited on a few of the other tools out there... like the Creatopia, the Imagine, the Cinch... I already have other ways to do what these do so why waste my moola?) Granted, the $30 spent on this magazine may have been money wasted as well, but maybe not. Although my best friend doesn't have internet access, so sharing the magazine with her should really help her out.

ME TOO. My best friend is just not a computer person. She uses one at work for her job as a special education teacher but that's it. So no home computer and no internet. I don't think I'd survive. We have around 10 computers at our home (laptops, netbooks, desktops, servers, etc.) plus hubby and I each have an iPod Touch and I've got my Kindle.

I *LOVE* my Kindle! I haven't read a "paper" book since getting my first Kindle a year ago Christmas.. and then the new Kindle this summer.
