Question craft mats

Hi all! I have seen so many great videos for card techniques/stamping on many sites. So many of them show the narrator using a craft mat to stamp directly on, wipe clean, etc. Where do I find these? I tried "google" and searching on various sites to no avail! Thank you for your help

Hi Mona -

I think you're referring to the non-stick heat resistant craft mats, like this one from Ranger:

Melt Art Non-Stick Craft Sheet | Suze Weinberg | Ranger Ink

I use one when I'm using paints and mediums - it's sort of miraculous how things just wipe right off it. It also protects your work surface from heat.

In Michaels and Joann the boxes are usually hanging in the aisle that has stamp pads and cleaners.

The Ranger craft mat comes in 2 sizes. You can even iron on it! The other alternative would be a Silpat (sp?) mat typically used in cooking. Not sure of the cost, but there are also generic kinds of those.

I have 2 sizes of the Ranger mats and I think they are terrific!!!! You can do anything on them and they are not damaged.

Price out oven liners and see which ends up cheaper. Many stampers use them.

I got my Ranger craft mat at Joanns with a coupon and it was as cheap as the oven liners that way.

I saw a similar silicone mat in a restaurant supply ad for alot cheaper than in Michael's/JoAnn - unless you use a coupon. I is shown on a cookie sheet under some food item so I think it is probably a good size to work on. It cost $9.99. I already have one so didn't go out an buy one at this price.

Teflon Pressing Sheets are another non-stick pad that is highly resistant to heat. They're white in color and are availaable in various sizes and two thicknesses. Check the fabric department of crafts stores or fabric stores. They're usually much, much cheaper than the 'craft pads.'

Another heat resistant pad found in fabric stores and departments is one that is fiberglas...looks identical to a 'craft pad' but is usually much cheaper.

Most cost effective of all is cooking parchment paper...check next to wax paper in the grocery store. The Wilton sectiion of Michaels should hve it too. I prefer the boxed roll rather than cut sheets. This paper is non-stick and heat resistant, and a piece can be used repeatedly.

I use all of these products...but have never used a 'craft pad.' I'm a quilter, so I've always used pressing sheets and parchment paper for stitching and crafting.

I have one of these Melt Art Non-Stick Craft Sheet | Suze Weinberg | Ranger Ink and I love it. It's great for heat embossing. Adhesives don't stick to it either.

I Love my Ranger Craft Mat- I have the larger sized one (?15X18?). I actually am planning on buying a second one to just have- also so I can do differetn techniques at the same time by moving from 1 mat to another. Scrapbooking Supplies - Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Paper, Stickers and more :: ScrapbookingAlley.com had these priced really cheap a couple years ago- I bought mine without coupon or discount for less then 10.00.

Thanks, all...I think the Ranger one is the one I saw being used in the video to smoosh paints, etc I will check JoAnn's...if they don't have, is it available in any other stores so I don't have to order online and pay shipping?
