OK I've been reading about these for way too long. I'm ready to buy, but want to know if there is great variation on the prices? Suggestions for the best place to get a deal on the markers?
Hobby Lobby carries them. But I didn't notice if they come in sets, just singles.
I actually went to Hobby Lobby last week and looked at them, since they were on sale. They did have several to choose from, but when I started calclulating the price I discovered very quickly that EVEN WITH THEM ON SALE at HL, if you are going to purchase several over time (25 to 30) it is probably cheaper to get them in a set somewhere. I started to get 3 or 4 while they were on sale and then pick up 3 or 4 the NEXT time they came on sale, but when I realized that the set would end up cheaper and that the sales opportunities were going to be very spread out over time, I decided to just save my money for now and invest in a set later on.
What can I say? I guess I like that "immediate reward". LOL!
I just bought a set of 36 of the Ciao markers from a seller on eBay for less than $107 w/ free shipping. I got them in less than two days. I am very happy with the Ciao. I also added to my collection the other day, stopped by a Jerry's Artarama in NJ, where they had the Copic sketch and originals on sale for 3.99. Unfortunately, the sale is not in their online store.
I just bought my first one at Hobby Lobby, I used my coupon, I don't plan on buying a ton of them so one at a time is fine for me, I get extra coupons from neighbors too!
You can also get a set of 10 for $40 with free shipping on ebay. Every once in awhile though you can get a really good deal. I was thrilled with my last purchase, they were all colors I couldn't get from HL.
I just bought a set from Amazon.com They are Ciao Markers-If you want to apply for an Amazon card, you get $30.00 off your first order, and the markers were 10 for $35.99-I never thought of eBay though, thanx!
www.scrapbookingalley.com has them for $4.87, but they had deal where if you spent $100 and paid through Paypal, you got $20 off...not sure if that ended yesterday or not though...but that made the Sketch $3.91.

If you sign up for Dick Blick as a teacher or get on their mailing list, you will get coupons in the mail- on occasion 40% off!
Dick Blick on-line is cheaper than their retail stores........
I joined a club- I think I got a really good price, but it is stopping after one round. It is an enormous amount of work! I know Gina K has a club as well.
I just bought 44 from Carpediemstore.com I spent $125.00 and that was with shipping. The shipping fees are a problem for some which is around 11.25 so probably not worth it unless you are ordering at least 20. I rec'd my markers in 3 days from the time of placing my order. They had all colors in stock, which i know to be a problem with other vendors.
I got a mix of Ciao and Sketch I paid $2.85 ea. for Ciao and $4.25 ea. for sketch. This is the second time I ordered from them and am very satisfied.
Hope that helped ~Angela
I buy mine separately from HL when they have their 40% coupon. I have bought the sets from Amazon, applied for the card, and got 10 for 3.90, but free shipping does not apply to Ciao, very pleased with them. Also, www.scrappingbookingalley had some great prices, no sales tax, and NO SHIPPING!

I just got some from scrapbookingalley.com. I like to be able to buy a few at a time, and also in the colors that go together for shading. In buying a set, it's usually one of each color family type thing. If you want to color with shading, I would suggest buying them separately.
Scrapbookinyalley.com has them for 4.87 with no shipping, no tax, and most importantly, no minimum on the order. I like to buy just a few at a time.
CarpeDiemStore has them on sell every now and then, but with stipulations. Might want to check them out also.

I've purchased mine from Oozak - caio markers for $3.22. I buy $50 worth and the shipping is free. I've always had great customer service from them.

Ciao? Sketch?
I have loved the vibrant colors on the cards colored with Copics. What is the difference between Ciao and Sketch markers? I do want to begin picking some up, but don't know where to begin!! Thanks for all of the above leads for great prices.
