I've just bought a couple of 'skin colour' copic markers. Thought I would practice shading faces on my stamped images before I buy 'real colours'. My call for HELP is this - the stamped ink is smudging or bleeding - am I pressing too hard or using the wrong inkpad. Images stamped with SU Basic Black and left to dry for several hours before colouring. Any advice would be muchly appreciated.
I would suggest using a different ink. Also the paper you are using may have some effect as well. I personally use Papertrey Ink's white cardstock and Memento's Tuxedo Black ink when using Copics. I don't have any smearing problems and I'm able to color right away - no waiting to have the ink dry.
I agree...it's the ink. I get the best luck with Ranger's Adirondack... (you will find that some inks work for some people and not for others.) You may have to try a few different inks and paper combinations to find what works best for you.

I love the Memento ink. Literally within seconds of stamping you can color with the Copics. I do love the Papertrey white paper, but if you want another paper that comes in different shades of white, off white, & ivory, the Neenah Classic Crest (80 lb.) works really well with the copics.
