Default Copic Ciao or Sketch Markers, what's the difference?

Why do some of you use the Ciao markers and some of you use the Sketch?

Thanks!

Well, one reason might be cost. The Ciao is cheaper than the Sketch. You cannot get as many colors in the Ciao (144) as you can a Sketch (322 colors). Also, you can airbrush with a Sketch (you have to get the airbrush thingy to do it), but I would swear I read about someone rigging it to work with a Ciao somewhere on SCS...

Also, they are a different shape. The Ciao is the same shape as a SU marker, whereas the Sketch is more of a wider pen. I am not talking about the tips, but the actual pen itself.

I went for the Ciao because, lets face it, I am no artist! I do not really need 322 colors or the ability to airbrush! I wish I were that talented...

HTH some..

You can always go to their website at copicmarker.com for more info.

Thanks for the info! That really helps in trying to decide which to get when I can afford them. Since the Sketch has more colors, maybe when SU comes out with their next "In Color" line, they will have colors to match.

I was also wondering are there any performance differences?

From what I read online, I don't see any performance differences. Just that you cannot airbrush with the Ciao. They both use the same ink and can be refilled.

If you search on SCS, there are several Copic threads. Someone posted a color match for SU and Copic. The in-colors were available in the Ciao and Sketch markers.

You can easily rig up the airbrush system with the CIAO's, I've done it, only took a couple of foamy dimensionals to fill up the extra space in the barrel that is designed for the sketch marker. It works fabulously! You can't beat the price of the ciaos. I bought mine at My Favorite Things.
