I know carpediem has good prices, but I refuse to pay their shipping, totally negates the savings IMO.
I store mine in the plastic storage cases, and am working on filling up my 4th one (36 each). So I have around 144. I'll do a real tally when they all arrive.

So are you separating all of your markers by color? I have the 4 sets of 36 markers (144 total), and I think I can fit all of mine in 2 of those containers (1 compartment for greens, 1 for blues, 1 for earth tones, 1 for reds, 1 for oranges, 1 for yellows & skin tones, 1 for pinks, & 1 for purples).

My name is Debbie and I am a Copic-holic. I now have 180 markers. I started with the a small set of CIAO, but then went to the Copic Certification class taught by Marianne, and found I liked the Sketch slightly better. The mains reason I like the Sketch is because the number & color are on the end, they hold more ink, and it seems to me they refill more easily. But I still use the CIAO's I had originally bought. If you buy a refill of ink, be sure to buy the little needle kit too.

I am still learning how to use these to their full advantage, but I am totally hooked. Here are a couple of cards I've made using them.

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=22205

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=22205

Most of the things in Marianne's class are listed in detail on her blog. I still go there a lot and try to prefect techniques she taught us.

One bit of trivia I learned at the certification class, is the way Copic is pronounced. I assumed it was a short o (like in Cop), but it's a long o. The "Co" in Copic rhymes with the word Go. The stress is on the first syllable.

Marianne let us play with paper and ink and I liked them so that's what I buy now. The ink is Memento and paper is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I bought a package of 250 from Paperworks so I will be good for awhile.
I buy my Copics from the MerriArtist and love their service.

Marianne is awesome and if you get a chance to go to her class it's awesome too.

I heard the SU coated paper can leave a residue on the markers that makes them not work as well??

WOW! Your chart is awesome!

I'm just getting my toes wet in the Copic marker pond, don't have a single one of my own ... yet. Your chart looks like it would be wonderfully helpful -- did you make it, or is it available somewhere? TIA

I have the compartment cubes too. Right now I have about 170 and have four cubes. I've divided the colors by the letter group. Some of the colors if you have a lot of the same family they won't fit in only one section, ie; the "E" family. I attached a chart I made to help keep track of the colors. I need to know the names as well has the color number. I printed it out on the paper I most commonly use the GP 110#, then I take the pages with me when I go to purchase the markers. This helps eliminate duplicates, which I've fortunately done only once - Before the chart.

I have the 72 Set A and D and purchased 30 individuals from Ellen Hutson since they had the 20% off sale. I am addicted to copics and I'm on Marianne's blog everyday. I'm still a beginner and am working on my sketchbook swatches. I started a thread here so that we can all share color combos. If you have some great color combos that you love, please share. We Copic-holics would love to see them.

I found you sometimes can't go by the names of the markers. I agree R02 is way too peachy/orangy for skin, but I do use it for rosey cheeks.

Like on this card:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=22205

I've been using R00 (pinkish white) for my fair skin tones.

These markers are named by the Japanese Company who makes them and some of the names don't make sense to me.

I ordered from Oozark and I ordered a lot of markers for a first time order, however I wanted to get them before the prices went up and with my Santa money. LOL Now off to go figure out how to use them!

ok, so here is my 2 cents for the day..its probably only worth a penny but anyway. lol

I got some more copics that I ordered a few days ago. I'm happy for the most part. However, there are a few colors I wouldnt of picked had I seen them in person.

Let me explain and hopefully that will help some person save $5.99...then this will be my 5.99 post for the day! HA

Blues... Online it looked like a good selection. However, B45 smoky blue, and B34 are just too much a like for me. If you make two coats of B45 it looks just like B34. Maybe this is th point for very very gradual shading but i dont like it. I would of just got B45 and went over it twice for the color of B34 (manganese blue)

I thought I was safe getting a YG color since I didnt have any of those. But I cant hardly tell a difference between YG 67 and G28. They look different on the color caps of the markers but on paper its very very subtle. maybe i'm going color blind but no big difference to me.

My last is the reds. R39 and R 59 are pretty close. I thought if the first number was different it was a different color? I thought the last number was the one for different shades? maybe i'm messing that up...

Anyway, these two reds are really similar. Sitting here in the dim light I cant tell a difference at all even in the marker caps (in good light i can). R59 just looks a little deeper.

I am very happy with the browns I picked out. I got E57, E 25, E 29 and E33 They are yummy.. I am also happy with their differences in color.

The first number is the brightness and the second is the light/dark ness. I think.

Get the color wheel from the library section on copicmarker.com!!

This will save you a lot of money! Any colors that are touching each other on that wheel are VERY similar in person. For instance B34 and B45 are touching at the corners, and they could be interechangeable in blending situations as well as alone. B45 is very slightly more grayed-out and B43 is very slightly more intense, however if you only want one...you could live with just one.

It helps a lot to color in the chart (also at copicmarker.com) and compare that to the wheel when you place an order for more. For instance I have Y21 an Y35, and to blend up from Y21, I would need Y23. To blend down from Y35 I would need Y32. But on the wheel, Y23 and Y32 are touching at the corners and nearly the same. So I would choose Y32 to use in both situations, because I prefer a more muted color palette.

I hope this makes sense...??

I don't have 39...so I can't compare those. I have R37 and R59 and they blend together nicely, so I can't say that I need R39...not much help to you though huh? And since you think they are the same...I doubt I will ever order it...LOL

Maybe you can put one on BST or offer to do a trade with someone else who has colors that are too close or *oops* orders? If they really look alike to you, I wouldn't keep both.

Is this something I can download or have to buy? Sorry~ I am just finishing up the WRAK Cards for the Troops challenge & am pretty much brain dead at this point.

I purchase my markers at Dick Blick or at Ooza and wanted to show the marker storage from Oozak
http://www.oozak.com/search.php?nobo...&sprice=&pg=15

scroll down.....

I purchased the 12 marker boxes, which is fine for a beginner. If I get more storage, I will buy the bigger ones. The storage bins for 12 markers- does not stay together without me putting a rubber band around it, and I have 5 of them- it is kind of a pain....but works well for storage. I sort them by color families.

I read the Ilikemarkers blog, and did research before buying colors- so I buy families and also found a blog on you tube that shows how to color with the 00 numbers picking up darker colors (8's and 9's) to blend Copics so you do not have to buy the middle numbers.......

(In this tutorial, the author talks about buying the lighter shades and the darker shades, and shows how to blend them to get the middle colors without buying all of the in-between colored markers. I have tried this and it works well. I use a CD case as she suggests and put a piece of white paper in the middle of the case so you can see what colors you have on the case. You will need the alcohol blending solution to clean the marker off of the cd case or stamp block. (I do not have this and I do not need to clean off my marker case, so probably will not buy any unless I have to……) I also use this technique with the Bic and Sharpie markers…….. (I actually use them all together).

I love all of the tips here on this thread, and look forward to color suggestions. I love these markers- they are very 'smooth'!!!

Hello, may I join this thread? am a copic fan too
I use E00 for skin and E02 for blush. Memento ink and Neenah and PTI cs for me.
Craftycrunchymama, I have read in Marianne's blog that you can still save previously colored work by going over them using a lighter or the same color. You can still repair the hat if you want to. HTH!
