For ink and paper, Dana did a FABULOUS comparison!

Click this link to see it.

She was extremely comprehensive! Based off that review, I switched to Nick Bantock Lamp Black by Ranger and I LOVE the results! No smear and no wait time.

I store my Copics horizontally, but only because it works best in my space that way. I have never had one dry out.

good question! I only have 32 markers so far so which gray is best for shading? I am really going to try to keep my collection of copics under 100. *smiling~ yeah, right!*

Oh I missed that question before...

I rarely shade with gray and if I do I use C-1. I don't have any Toner Grays yet, which are the ones recommended for shading over colors. I have 1 on my list for my next order...but I like how just shading with a darker of the same color works.

Those are great Cher!

I have this one where you can see on her hat the coloring is horrible. That's when my E33 was drying up.

And this one I was practicing how to put 2 different colors on the flowers.

I have read on the Copic website (www.copicmarker.com) that it does not matter how you store them -- vertically or horizontally. Also, I agree with many that oozak.com is The Best Place to purchase Copics. I recently bought the 144 Ciao markers in 2 sets of 72. They were sold out of one set but called me to let me know they had the individual colors to make that set up -- including the sleeve and the plastic case! I agreed (like I could refuse?!?) and they shipped both sets that day -- I had in 3 days! Free UPS shipping. Color me happy!

NICE work, ladies!! Those are really very very pretty!

As soon as I figure out how to put my card on here, maybe I will get up the nerve to show you gals my "feeble" attempts with my Copics! LOL! I am only just starting with them.

I put a second order in to Oozak on Monday AM and they are being shipped already! How great is that!! Hooray for Oozak!

I love them...you do a great job!

The second one...what two colors did you use on the flowers? I had a heck of a time deciding how to color that image...I didn't even see the kitty till I was coloring grass...haha!!

Mine was too pale or washed out...I love the lighter jeans and red on it that you did...those are more my colors!

Here is how mine ended up....(it's not in my gallery since I didn't like it!)

I think you mean Marianne's Blog at ilikemarkers.blogspot.com

She has one of the best sources of information about Copics. As for me I have about 110 unique colors, and like 10 repeated ones (including two color less blenders).

I love this card!!! You definitely should post it. Yes, you said it, you are your own worst critic.

For the flowers I used RV14 Begonia Pink and R29 Lipstick Red. The only reason is because those are the only 2 in the red/pinks that I own.

I have 12 measely Copic Markers. I am just in awe of you ladies with 144!!

It's very easy to get cards uploaded once you get the hang of it. I think there are instructions on here somewhere.

Oh! Is that how you get some topic made a "STICKY?" We just take a poll?

I never knew that. I'm still "navigating." LOL! I'm happy when I can reply to a thread. Hehehehe!

It doesn't mean it WILL happen...a poll can just give the Mods an idea of how many people really WANT it...and maybe they will do it.

OK. Thanks. I think I've got the idea. It really would be good to have it as a "STICKY." There are sooo many questions lately about Copics, using them, where to purchase, what they are, etc. Hope it gets made a "sticky!"

[QUOTE=kitty14;12500560]I use Papertrey white card stock and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

A great tip I got from someone here (sorry I can't remember who) was to use Versafine Onyx Black ink and detail CLEAR EP to help from going outside the lines when coloring. It works very well and it looks really pretty!

I thought that the versa line of inks didn't work with copics. To be clear, do they work when a clear EP is used??? I would love to have a way to help me stay in the lines!!!

Yes, I read the same thing you did. It said that if we use VersaFine Onyx Balck and emboss with Detail Clear, we can use Copics. The EP helps us to color within the lines, besides looking nice. It is the metallic EP, like gold etc. that has some kind of reaction with Copics (I GUESS because of the alcohol in them) and the EP just gets ruined. At least, that's how I understood it.

VersaFine comes in several other colors, too. I found a lot of them on www.creativeplaystamps.com. And they also sell Copics.

That person in my avatar is Chloe from 24. The instructions for refilling are at the copic marker website under library. Also Marianne gives instructions on her blog http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com

OH my... I just purchased the SU! color combo set from Ellen Hutson because she was doing the 20% off sale.
I am scared to death now that I purchased them and have no idea what I am doing! ACK!
Anyone know of any tutorials where they show you step-by-step coloring?

I have a question. Has anyone colored in a downloaded image? I would imagine the ink would smear.

The copic ink is alcohol based and will smear most printer's ink. Laser printer's output wont smear.

Before I got me a laser, the think I did to color images from my computer was to print them at the higest quality possible, and then make copies at my local kinkos (since the copier toner wont smear also).

I put this in the site suggestions forum months ago and nothing ever happened. Maybe if we all put a "petition" (in the form of a poll?)??

That chart I made was just basic inkjet printer ink and it didn't bleed...you can color it very carefully, but if you rub the marker over the lines, I'm sure it would smear as already mentioned.

Do a search on YouTube for Copic. You probably don't want the manga videos, but there are some stamping tutorials to give you an idea of the basic blending process.

Well, I got scared my copics were going to dry up from storing vertically from reading about the problems people were having. So, I went to OfficeMax and bought one of their storage containers with the 4 compartments. Unfortunately, I only bought 1 and they don't all fit, so I have to go get another tomorrow.

Another oozak shopper! I stalk the delivery dates so I can beat some of you out in getting the colors I need, lol! I started with ciaos and a few sketches, but sold all my ciaos to go all sketch. I had to order from 4 places to get what I needed. Oozak, merriartist, ellen hutson's 20% off sale (yay), and one lonely marker from eP. I know carpediem has good prices, but I refuse to pay their shipping, totally negates the savings IMO.
I store mine in the plastic storage cases, and am working on filling up my 4th one (36 each). So I have around 144. I'll do a real tally when they all arrive.
