Default Color Caddy vs. Cassette Rack

Good morning!

I have read past posts regarding the color caddy - reviews are still mixed. I was considering ordering one since it is the last day of Sell-a-bration. But it sounds like several people have had problems assembling them and that they sound flimsy and do not work well without a turntable underneath. I am overseas - these are not readily available. Neither is a wodden cassette case like those made by Napa Valley. They can be ordered from ebay but after the postage charges they are not THAT much cheaper than the color caddy. And I like the idea of storing the refills on top (of course, they could easily go in a plastic shoebox as well).

Thoughts and insights from anyone using cassette racks for ink pads? Any additional arguments for the color caddy?

Thanks everyone for your feedback aiding me in my decision.

I do not have the color caddy, but have a few customers with them. I have heard good things from my customers. I don't have one because: a) I dont' have that much 'extra' space on my stamp counter b) I had already used the cassette holder before I became a demo c) I can't justify the cost when I had the cassette holder and have another bigger one for when we re-do my stamp room d) I keep my re-inkers in the alphabet stamp cases stacked on end withe the family name labeled.

I use the cassetee holder and it works great! I don't organize my CS or ink by color families, I use the rainbow. So for me, the cassette holders work great. I have them in the same order as I have my CS on the racks.

I have seen people use IKEA CD/DVD holders mounted on their walls for ink storage. These can only be purchased in store, but they are only $5-7 I think and wouldn't be as much for shipping as the cassette holder.

Here's a link to the one in the gallery

The member in the link I gave said to use only DVD holders, not CD. Sorry!

Well, just to make things more difficult, I use the Ink Pad Palace (well, actually 2 of them). I don't know if they ship overseas, though. I have used mine for 2 years, and they are still holding up well. (And I have 6 kids, so things have to be pretty sturdy to last around here.)

I love my color caddy...no problems at all with it. I would buy it again and will probably buy another one soon.

I have a cassette holder and it works ok for some of the ink pads but I don't use just SU ink and some other brands are a little fatter and won't fit it the slots. So I have to keep them on top of the rack. I got my holder on ebay and shipping was a little high.

I used to use the cassette holder, but then the new SU pads did not fit in it. I bought the caddy and I really like it. Of course when you have something that is plastic and you fill it up to that height it is a little wobbly. And yes I do have it on a lazy susan because the one that it has just did not spin fast enough for me (I'm a little inpatient) but it works fine. I'm not sure about adding the extender on it. I think that I will just buy another one before I did that.

And my Mom is a glitter freak, she puts her glitters on the top where the reinkers go. They are there handy for her. I put my inks in a plastic tubby drawer...

I'm not sure if I gave you any help or not?? But that's my story...
Hugs,
