Color Caddy Handle?

Just received my order. Bought the extender right away too. Cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the handle on. Seems part of it fits on little grooves, but then can't turn it (can't really turn it at all) The center rod doesn't poke up at all, have to push down on the refill tray which still doesn't seem to be right. Anybody have any idea what I may have done wrong when I assembled it?

Are you sure you put the longer rod from the extender kit in rather than the one that comes with the base caddy? Or maybe some of your tray pieces didn't get pushed in place all the way?
