child's ink

I have heard there is an ink that is good for kids to stamp with, but I'm newer to stamping myself, all we have is Hobby Lobby and JoAnn near me and I haven't found any at either. Can anyone tell me what a good ink for a 5 yr old would be? She likes to make her own cards when I do

I looked all over a few years back for the same thing and it didn't exist at a reasonable price. However, I just saw washable ink pads at ACMoore last night. Perhaps if you find out the product name, you can search online to buy it.

At Hobby Lobby, in the children's craft section, they used to have big pads of different colored inks for children to use. It's not in the regular stamping/scrapbook section.

Check where they have the little paint by number kits, velvet posters, jewelry kits, etc. for kids.

I haven't used these, but Colorbox has a line of stamp pads for kids called My 1st Colorbox. They are made with child-safe inks and are supposed to wash off hands easily.

I looked online at Hobby Lobby and they are $1.99 each. They are $2.49 at joann.com but are only available online.

Hero Arts has a line of stamp pads called Just for Kids.

If you aren't able to find any stamp pads specifically for kids, then as long as your daughter won't put the ink in her mouth, I would think any brand of dye ink would be good for her to use. It's more washable than pigment inks and dries fast. Some brands of dye inks are Memento, ala Mode, Adirondack, and Rubber Stampede. Many stores carry their own brands, so just look for a dye ink. If you want to be extra sure to be able to wash the ink off hands, get a Craft Scrubbie from Ranger.

The SU! inks are non-toxic. They aren't made specifically for kids ... but even if the get some in their mouth it won't be a crisis.
I've had kids use my inks without any problem. (well, other than the inky hands thing ... but it washes off)
