Just wondering if any of you other ladies here have gotten this machine and had any problems with the handle falling off? I was using it on Friday and the handle fell off right in my hand. I know Priscilla had this happen to her and they sent her a repair kit. I called and spoke to Judy at Cheery Lynn Designs asking for a replacement unit because my machine isn't more than 45 days old. She indicated that there was a batch of units that had this defect. Judy indicated she would or someone else would call me back. No call back either yesterday or this afternoon after I called and left a message today. I get it that they have a repair kit for the machine but my issue is its still new and its a known defect so my issue is what if the handle fix doesn't last the life of the unit and goes out AFTER the warranty is expired. Who wants to invest in a brand new unit and have to do a repair less than two months after you get it?
Anyway, just wondering if anyone thinks my request for a replacement machine is out of line.
I was going to put these in my webstore because other than the defect with the handle falling off this machine is awesome. So heavy duty and big enough for all dies I believe. I am going to hold off on offering them or a better review to see how their customer service handles this request.
I had an opportunity to see this machine right at Cheery Lynn.Sorry Have to say none of the group were impressed with the demo, price and heavy weight.
Not a one said they would buy for all the above reasons.
I just put in my third call to Cheery Lynn Designs and was told that they absolutely will not replace the defective machine but only send out replacement parts. How about that? I will try the fix but I have lost confidence in this company as far as their customer service. It would have been nice if someone had returned my call after all. I still love the Crossover because it is pretty amazing but not happy with a company who is not willing to replace a defective unit rather than just send out replacement parts.

I hope you let them know that they lost a possible sales outlet for the machine. As a business woman who is known for your professionalism and great customer service, you don't want to have to be a middleman/woman and deal with an unhappy customer if the customer has a problem with the machine and the company won't stand by their product.
I did tell them that I am no longer interested in selling them.

I do not want my customers to go through what I have to get repair parts. They said flat out will not replace these units just send repair parts. That is from owner Mike Dywan himself. So....I await parts.
"She indicated that there was a batch of units that had this defect."
This makes their refusal to replace the machine even worse. They have certainty something is wrong on their end --that you didn't do the damage. It looks like since there's a batch with the problem, they don't want to put out the money necessary to keep customers' good will. So foolish! That good will is worth much more than the money to replace the machines.
Sooo,if they admit they had a bad batch ( how big was it) obviously others had this same problem. Could be they know the machine has problems, maybe they are going to drop it, hence the repair kit, as it would too expensive to replace.
If they believed in this machine they would stand behind it. From what we saw of the demo even the inventor was having trouble operating it, so that told us all we had to know. You could buy a couple of CB or Big Shots for the price if this baby lol.sorry to hear you got stung with a klunker.

Reason: Typo
You know I was so hopeful when I first saw the youtube demo, but now hearing that there is a defect coupled with the way they are handling customer service, I would never buy one!
I have now had mine for 6 months and am totally happy with it. Love the way it can be adjusted to handle all types of dies and embossing folders.
I have had 2 other cuttlebug which broke and no one wanted to know about it as they said I had used too much force. I then went for the wizard which lasted for 5 years but would never cut out intricate dies. So now I am trilled to be finally able to cut out all my beautiful intricate dies with ease. I have not had the problem with the handle falling off but my friend did and it was fixed by a slightly longer screw.
Totally love this machine and wouldn't trade it for anything else..

Amber, did you receive your parts and did they solve the problem? ... Mike's messing with the wrong person on this one!
Parts came hubby put them in. Handle has not fallen off again but my machine is making funny grinding noises. I have only had this expensive unit for a few months. Loved it at first until it started having issues 3 weeks into ownership. I have totally lost confidence in this unit. There is another thread here somewhere that several ladies commented on that they are having major issues. I would not advise anyone to buy this. The funny thing is it has a 2 year warranty.
Thanks for asking. I'm back to using my big shot.
A couple of years ago I bought a Cherry Lynn die from Joan Fricker when she owned Joan's Garden. I have quite a few Cherry Lynn dies but on this one the finish was peeling off. I contacted Joan and she contacted Mike at Cherry Lynn about the problem. She said he told her he had a bad batch of those dies where the paint was not baked long enough and I should just put it in my oven to bake it a while to set the rest of the paint . He also told her HE DOES NOT replace products . The section under the peeled paint was starting to rust and baking it would not reverse the rusting .
Joan offered to replace the die at her expense and I said NO. I felt she should not need to absorb the cost of a defective product that was not her fault. I threw it out and I stopped buying Cheery Lynn dies even though they have many unique dies .

Just live and learn right? There are so many reputable stores and products to buy. I still love my Big Shot and Ebosser!
Blessings
I can count on one hand the defective products I have gotten . I and most people are understanding that things can go wrong in manufacturing . All we ask is the company make it right and not expect their dealers to absorb the cost of replacing a defective product of theirs .
I bought a Justrite stamp set that was missing one of the stamps. I contacted Justrite and they immediately sent me a new set .
I bought a Grand Calibur when they first came out and the white knob that anchors the machine to the table would not turn. Spellbinders immediately sent another machine .
Since then I have never had a problem with any product from either of these companies. I continue to buy their products with full confidence that they stand behind their products

Cheery Lynn also has a business called Dies Direct that does custom die manufacturing for other stamp companies. You may be buying more Cheery Lynn Dies than you realize from other stamp companies. I'm not sure who they manufacture for. But, I guess it is up to each company if they will stand by their product, even if the manufacturer makes the error.
On their Facebook page, they claim to be the only American manufacturer of thin metal dies. They say they have manufactured for Spellbinders and Quickcutz. It may be that if your thin metal dies say they are American made, they are being manufactured by Dies Direct.

you are absolutely right, I saw how many companies you would not believe that have them make their dies when touring the company. We were told by "himself" "that they manufacture all american made thin dies except for those companies that have theirs made in China".
I have not had any problems using any of their dies, but would not purchase the machine having seen it in action or should I say its "inaction" lol
