Hi. Just wanting to know if anyone has tried the Chameleon markers? I live in Australia, so would need to buy them from the USA, so would be pretty expensive. As the Blendabilities have been taken off the market here, thought these might be good. How well do the colors compare with stampin up colours? Any feedback would be good.
Hi there! I have a set of the markers and they're a lot of fun. The color set is limited and fairly basic, but a single marker yields a complete range of tints and shades in that color. You may have a difficult time matching some of the specialty colors that Stampin' Up! has to offer.
I can't answer on matching the Stampin Up colors but I've been using the Chameleon Pens five months and like them. I was surprised that I was able to use my very first coloring attempt on a card.
I've read negatives concerning the time it takes to fuse the color to the blending chamber but the average area wouldn't take much longer than switching pens when I use my Copics. I rarely blend more than 10 seconds.
I also touch the nib of one color to another for example orange to red to get a deeper color for a flower center.
Also if the color is a bit brighter than what I wanted the image to be I fuse the gray, fawn or bisque and color over the brighter color to tone it down. Then blender pen also tones down the color.
Check out the videos in the Chameleon Pens forum (Dina's first link) for helpful tips.
I don't even mind the fusing time, since I'm usually thinking about where I'll color next. Thought that might be an issue for me, and it hasn't been at all.
Great tips on combining colors, Rox - I was playing with layering a little bit yesterday.
